Chapter 451: Target 1
Chapter 451: Target 1
"Then where should I go?" Su Ming's heart tightened, and anxiety surged in his heart again. He knew that he could only rely on the support of his teammates to temporarily escape this dangerous situation.
Cheng Xu didn't rush to answer, but continued in a low voice: "Go to the old warehouse area on the south side. We have people there. Do you know the route there?"
"I know." Su Ming nodded. Even though Cheng Xu couldn't see, he still responded subconsciously. Although the road was remote, it was indeed a place where he could temporarily hide. Especially the blind spots and hidden paths in the warehouse area were enough for him to find cover.
"Okay, go to the warehouse area." Cheng Xu said concisely and decisively, "Our people will provide you with support when you arrive. Keep in touch, and evacuate immediately if anything unexpected happens."
"I understand." Su Ming's voice was low, but there was no room for hesitation.
After hanging up, Su Ming took a deep breath and quickly pocketed his phone. Standing in the shadows, he was barely aware of his surroundings, his mind racing with commands and decisions. He quickly scanned his surroundings, confirming there were no obvious enemy surveillance, and then immediately headed south toward the warehouse area.
Although he still felt uneasy, he knew at this moment that the only thing he could rely on was the support of his teammates and their hidden plans. He had to conceal his whereabouts as much as possible to avoid being detected by the enemy.
Every step was filled with pressure. Su Ming clutched the hem of his coat, his steps becoming lighter, trying to blend in with his surroundings. The parking lot exit wasn't far away, but he knew the closer he got, the more likely he'd be spotted. So, instead of heading directly for the most visible path, he chose to skirt around a corner of the garage, following the shadows of the wall.
The wind outside grew stronger, the chill sending shivers through his body, but this didn't dampen his composure in the slightest. The silence around him forced him to remain alert, and every turn was filled with tension. Although he knew he wasn't alone and his teammates were secretly supporting him, the pressure was still heavy, as if the whole world was waiting for him to make a mistake.
At that moment, Su Ming caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. He immediately stopped in his tracks and hid behind an abandoned car. It was a uniformed auxiliary police officer patrolling nearby. His pace was neither hurried nor impetuous, but Su Ming knew that this pace was precisely the most dangerous—it appeared leisurely, but in reality, it was searching for a target.
His mission was simple - make contact, confirm intelligence, and disappear. But today, things weren't as simple as usual.
The street around him was deserted, a damp, cold air hanging in the air. Su Ming knew it couldn't possibly be completely deserted. At this moment, even a fallen leaf would be enough to disrupt the apparent silence. The shadows behind him seemed to hold a dangerous aura.
He took a deep breath, exhaled softly, and scanned the surroundings. There were still a few minutes until the agreed time, and everything was going according to plan. But his intuition told him that today's meeting was destined to be more complicated than it was.
Suddenly, a muffled sound of footsteps echoed from the alley on the left. The pace was steady, yet there was an inexplicable sense of oppression. Su Ming didn't turn back, but simply tilted his head slightly, his eyes becoming more intense. His fingers unconsciously clasped the gun handle on the inside of his coat—he didn't expect a violent confrontation tonight, but if it came to that, he wouldn't hesitate.
The footsteps grew closer, accompanied by a few crisp whistles. It seemed casual and relaxed, yet it also held a certain sense of unease. Su Ming frowned slightly, his alertness rising sharply. Just as he was about to further assess the situation, the voice suddenly stopped.
Then, a figure walked out from the darkness.
The man wasn't tall, but his steps were steady, and between his brows there was a tough aura. It was an aura that was completely impossible to ignore, like a sharp blade that had been baptized by countless storms, cold and uncompromising.
"Are you Su Ming?" The man's tone was flat, with a hint of amusement, but he didn't seem to have much hostility.
Su Ming did not answer immediately. He had no extra expression. He just nodded slightly, and a hint of imperceptible alertness flashed in his eyes.
"Zheng Yaoxian," the man continued, "don't be nervous. I'm just here to help you break up the fight."
Su Ming's eyelids twitched slightly, and a wave of emotion instantly stirred within him. "Severing a quarrel?" The word "severing a quarrel" was clearly inappropriate to him. In a world rife with danger and betrayal, the phrase "severing a quarrel" often signified an unpredictable situation. Especially in the depths of intelligence warfare, every action could harbor enormous risks.
"Break up the fight?" Su Ming's voice was cold, like the invisible shadow he stood in the night. "I don't understand what you're talking about."
Zheng Yaoxian smiled slightly, but there was no kindness in that smile. Instead, it made Su Ming feel an uncomfortable sense of oppression.
"You should understand," Zheng Yaoxian's tone turned serious. "Whether you believe it or not, you're destined to get into big trouble tonight. You don't need to know who I am. Just know that from now on, the situation will be out of your control."
A flicker of alarm suddenly crossed Su Ming's mind. A fight? He subconsciously thought Zheng Yaoxian might be testing him, or perhaps paving the way for a larger conspiracy. However, he didn't immediately reveal it. Instead, he looked at Zheng Yaoxian calmly, his eyes still sharp.
"What you said is very interesting," Su Ming finally said, "but I prefer to believe that you are trying to mislead me."
Zheng Yaoxian didn't answer immediately, but just smiled softly. Then he suddenly took out a photo from his pocket and handed it to Su Ming. The person in the photo was no stranger to him - it was one of the targets he had been tracking for the past few days.
"I guess you've been looking for him, right?" Zheng Yaoxian said lightly.
Su Ming's eyes narrowed slightly, and he quickly put the photo away, mentally assessing the complex situation that might be hidden behind it. Regardless, Zheng Yaoxian was clearly no ordinary figure at this moment. His presence signaled that something was quietly afoot, and he seemed to be one of the key figures.
"I guess we're on the same side," Zheng Yaoxian continued, "but my stance may be different from yours."
"Different?" Su Ming's voice was a little cold. "Then whose side are you on?"
