Chapter 452 No Escape
Chapter 452 No Escape
Zheng Yaoxian smiled but didn't answer. The tension in the air grew thicker, and Su Ming suddenly realized that he seemed to have been dragged into an even more complicated situation.
At this moment, a burst of hurried footsteps could be heard in the distance, carrying an undeniable sense of oppression. The footsteps continued without a pause, as if a conflict had been anticipated. Su Ming's face darkened slightly, his intuition telling him that the situation had developed beyond his control.
"You can no longer complete your mission today." Zheng Yaoxian suddenly spoke in a calm tone, "You'd better give up for now."
"Give up?" Su Ming's heartbeat quickened slightly. "I'm not good at giving up."
Zheng Yaoxian didn't say anything else. He just stretched out his finger and pointed at the street corner in front, motioning Su Ming to look over there.
Su Ming looked in the direction of his finger. Around the corner, he could vaguely see several dark figures, like enemies who had been lying in ambush for a long time. Those people were clearly not ordinary strangers. Their steps were synchronized, cold and precise.
"It seems that you are the one who has to mediate the fight." Su Ming said softly.
Zheng Yaoxian didn't answer, but nodded slightly. Then, he pulled out a gun from his waist and aimed it at a certain direction around the corner.
"Are you ready?" Zheng Yaoxian asked in a calm tone, as if it was no big deal.
Su Ming's gaze was cold, and his fingers unconsciously tightened around the handle of his gun. Although his mission was to complete the intelligence exchange and quickly depart, it was clear that there was no such simple option now. The enemy was closing in, and the situation was becoming increasingly complex. Any moment of negligence could become a fatal mistake.
At that moment, the shadowy figure from the street corner finally emerged. A man in a black suit, his eyes sharp, his steps steady, and his aura undeniable. His appearance seemed to be the trigger for the entire situation, and the entire storm was about to erupt at that moment.
A sneer flashed through Su Ming's mind. Everything today, whether it was Zheng Yaoxian's "intervention" or the sudden appearance of the enemy, had completely disrupted his original plan. However, he knew that this was the true rule of spy warfare - there were no fixed strategies, only the ability to adapt quickly.
"It seems that I am not the only one who needs to mediate." Su Ming said softly, with a hint of determination in his eyes.
Su Ming's gaze was fixed on the man in black. His figure appeared at the end of the street, carrying an unspoken threat, as if the air around him had been compressed, becoming unbearably heavy. His gaze was sharp, his steps steady, as if every step was precisely calculated, as if he knew that his every move was controlling the situation about to explode.
Su Ming didn't move. He knew he had to remain calm. His fingers remained tightly gripped around the gun handle, his body slightly tense, like a fully drawn bow, ready to release at any moment. Yet, his heart remained calm, as if the dynamics of the world no longer mattered. His every sense was focused on the man before him and the decision he was about to make.
Zheng Yaoxian stood beside him, seemingly unfazed by the impending conflict. His calm, indifferent face remained expressionless, as if he had already seen through everything. His gaze remained fixed on the man in black, following his every move, as if he had foreseen what was to come.
"He's here to find you," Zheng Yaoxian finally spoke in a low voice. "Are you sure you want to fight alongside me, or continue on your own path?"
Su Ming didn't answer. Zheng Yaoxian's words weren't probing at all, but rather relaxed, as if this was something he faced every day. But Su Ming knew it wasn't that simple.
"I'll take care of it myself," he responded calmly.
In reality, Su Ming had already made up his mind. Over the years, he had grown accustomed to surviving in the dark corners of this world. No sudden change could make him lose his bearings. The enemy's presence here must have been carefully planned. He needed to remain calm, and the essence of calmness was observation, analysis, judgment, and then swift action.
The man in black drew closer, and Su Ming felt an invisible pressure, a slight tightening in his chest. The coldness and determination in the man's eyes contrasted sharply with Zheng Yaoxian's calm demeanor. The enemy was clearly prepared to face anything, even at the cost of blood.
The man in black stopped, not far from them. His eyes swept over Su Ming, lingering for a moment before quickly turning to Zheng Yaoxian. "This deal ends here," he said in a low voice, a hint of undeniable threat in it. "This man is mine."
Su Ming's lips curled slightly, and the coldness in his eyes grew more pronounced. The black-clad man's words clearly held a meaning he couldn't ignore. Su Ming understood that this wasn't just a simple fight, but a contest of life and death.
"If you can handle this person, you have to be able to let go of yourself." Zheng Yaoxian finally spoke. His tone remained calm, but it seemed to carry some hint. "Are you really ready?"
A complex emotion flashed across the black-clad man's eyes, but it was only a fleeting moment, quickly buried beneath his deep pupils. "I have no choice," he said in a deep voice, his words filled with a resoluteness that brooked no resistance.
Su Ming suddenly felt a surge of unease. The enemy's attitude grew increasingly stern, and the phrase "no choice" gave him a false impression—the enemy didn't seem to be coming for a simple mission, but rather concealing deeper motives.
It suddenly occurred to him that he didn't fully understand the man in black. To him, the enemy's actions followed a pattern, but now, that pattern seemed to have been broken. This man in black wasn't as simple as he had originally imagined.
"You like playing cat and mouse." Su Ming said coldly, with a hint of provocation in his tone, "But I'm not a mouse."
A subtle flicker of light flashed in the black-clad man's eyes, as if he hadn't anticipated Su Ming's reaction. His hands moved slightly, as if preparing himself mentally. The next moment, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, revealing a sneer. "You're quite clever," he said in a deep voice, "but you're destined to be unable to escape this game."
Su Ming didn't react immediately, his mind rapidly analyzing the situation. The sense of oppression still weighed on him, but he remained unfazed. The enemy clearly didn't realize that Su Ming had already figured out his habits.
