Chapter 133 The Exact Flow of Funds
Chapter 133 The Exact Flow of Funds
Lin Yue, a woman who looked to be in her early thirties, had a petite figure and delicate features, but her eyes held a sharp, resolute gaze. Her simple, smart attire was a stark contrast to the bar's atmosphere, but it also made her stand out. Sitting down across from her, the two stared at each other in silence for a moment before Lin Yue spoke first, "Su Ming? I know who you are and what you do." He nodded, "Lin Yue, a renowned investigative journalist, is also following Tianheng Technology's developments. It seems we do share the same goal."
Lin Yue's eyes didn't show any sign of retreat. "The Shadow Bureau sent you to assist in the investigation, right? I didn't expect them to be interested in this kind of industrial espionage case."
Su Ming didn't answer her question, but went straight to the point: "What intelligence do you have? The premise of our cooperation is to share information with each other."
Lin Yue took a sip of the red wine in his hand and said after a moment of contemplation, "I've been keeping an eye on Tianheng Technology for several months. They are developing a new material code-named 'New Dawn'. This material is much stronger and lighter than existing technologies. However, the problem is that they seem to be collaborating with certain illegal forces and may use this technology for military purposes."
Su Ming nodded. "I've also heard of some similar situations, but the company's internal confidentiality measures are very strict, making it difficult to obtain specific evidence."
Lin Yue moved closer and lowered his voice. "I recently discovered that Tianheng Technology has close financial ties with an overseas company with a shady record internationally. It's very likely that they're conducting some kind of illegal transaction involving the technology transfer for the New Dawn project."
Su Ming frowned: "How did you find these clues?"
"I have my own channels." Lin Yue replied, with a hint of mystery in his words.
Su Ming was silent for a moment, knowing that in this situation, it was pointless to continue pressing her about her origins. He decided to accept the cooperation for now. After all, the other party already had some key information that he had not yet accessed.
"Okay, let's work together." "You continue investigating the flow of funds, and I'll try to infiltrate the company and find more substantial evidence." A hint of approval crossed his face. "Then we'll each be responsible for different areas, but we must share any findings immediately."
"No problem." Su Ming agreed readily.
The two then discussed some details and eventually reached a cooperation agreement. Although Su Ming still had some reservations about Lin Yue's motives, he believed that under the circumstances, joining forces was the wisest choice. After all, they were facing a well-hidden opponent.
That night, after returning home, Su Ming kept thinking about his conversation with Lin Yue. Her resolute attitude and piercing gaze made her a seasoned investigative reporter, which made Su Ming realize she might be more formidable than he'd imagined. But he also understood that the Shadow Bureau's decision to let him collaborate with her meant the intelligence she possessed was crucial to the mission.
The next day, Su Ming continued to work at Tianheng Technology. On the surface, he handled his daily affairs as usual, but in fact, his attention was all on the clues Lin Yue provided him. The overseas company she mentioned made Su Ming feel a little uneasy.
"The flow of funds might be the key," he thought to himself. "As long as we can find the exact path of the funds, we can trace their ultimate destination."
During his lunch break, Su Ming excused himself to a nearby bank to conduct personal business, but in reality, he was verifying the information Lin Yue had provided. Using the special permissions granted by the Shadow Bureau, he accessed Tianheng Technology's account transaction records through the bank's internal system. Sure enough, he discovered some unusual fund flows.
"It seems Lin Yue is right," Su Ming confirmed in his heart. A portion of Tianheng Technology's funds had indeed flowed to an offshore company in Southeast Asia, and this company had inextricable ties to certain dark forces internationally.
After returning to the company, Su Ming's mission became clearer. Prove that Tianheng Technology was engaging in illegal transactions and might be transferring New Dawn Project technology to these illegal organizations. This was an extremely dangerous clue; if discovered, his situation would be extremely unfavorable.
A few days later, Su Ming met Lin Yue again, this time in a more secluded location—a small teahouse in the old town of Haicheng. Its quaint decor and sparsely populated location made it ideal for a confidential conversation.
"I have found more details about the flow of funds." Su Ming went straight to the point and told Lin Yue the clues he had found.
Lin Yue smiled faintly. "It seems you've mobilized a lot of resources. This information is very valuable." She pulled a document from her bag and handed it to Su Ming. "I got this from an insider. This company is planning a huge deal, most likely the technology transfer you mentioned." He quickly glanced through it, and his heart sank. The document detailed the contract between Tianheng Technology and the overseas company, including the terms of the technology transfer and the payment method. This was undoubtedly solid evidence that they were conducting illegal transactions.
"This document can directly expose their crimes. When do you plan to release it?"
Lin Yue shook her head. "It's not time yet. This is just part of it. We need more evidence to completely destroy this trading network."
Su Ming understood her concerns. If they acted rashly now, they might alert the enemy and even give them a chance to destroy the evidence. They needed to wait until they captured all the relevant personnel and the forces behind them before they could completely wipe out the case.
"Then what should we do next?" Su Ming asked.
"We need more inside information, especially on the details of the transaction and the specific timeline for the technology transfer. I heard they had an internal meeting recently, and this might be discussed. If you can infiltrate that meeting, we can get the most crucial evidence."
