Chapter 201 A Higher Victory
Chapter 201 A Higher Victory
While he was thinking, the three men had completed the handover and were ready to leave.
Su Ming frowned slightly and quickly adjusted his plan. If he let them leave like this, he might miss an important clue today. He had to do something—but not expose himself.
With a flash of his eyes, Su Ming made a quick decision. He gently picked up a small stone at his feet and flicked his wrist. The stone flew silently into the distance, hitting a pile of discarded wooden boxes at the entrance of the alley with a slight sound.
The three of them stopped at the same time and quickly looked towards the source of the sound.
"Who's there?" The man in gray growled alertly, his eyes turning cold.
Su Ming quietly moved, taking advantage of the brief moment of confusion to quickly approach the three men. His movements were extremely light, making no unnecessary noise, like a leopard lurking in the darkness, ready to launch a fatal attack at any moment.
The three men didn't notice his approach, still looking around warily. Meanwhile, Su Ming's gaze was fixed on the package in the gray-clothed man's hand. He knew it might be the key to breaking out of his current predicament. If he could get the package, perhaps he could find the clue that had "betrayed" him.
Opportunities are fleeting.
Su Ming suddenly struck out, his figure flashing past the three men's flanks like lightning, and precisely snatched the package from the gray-clothed man's hand. His movements were so swift that it was difficult to react. Before the three men could even turn around, Su Ming had already leaped into another dark corner, as if he had never appeared.
"Someone!" The man in gray finally reacted, roared, pulled out the weapon he was carrying, and fired wildly in all directions.
Bullets whizzed past Su Ming's ears. He pressed himself against the wall, rapidly analyzing his next possible course of action. He couldn't afford to fight any longer. The enemy was clearly intent on killing, and their only target was the package. Su Ming's body tensed to the utmost, his eyes calmly scanning his surroundings, quickly assessing the best escape route.
Su Ming's legs moved swiftly through the narrow alley, his steps light and silent, as if he had merged with the surrounding darkness. His heartbeat raced, as if the echoing gunshots still lingered in his ears, yet every thought in his mind raced. The package, tucked tightly under his arm, felt slightly heavy, a weight that made him feel extremely important, perhaps the most crucial breakthrough in his spy war.
The sounds of pursuit grew closer and closer. Su Ming knew he had to find a safe hiding place as soon as possible to completely shake off the enemy before he could properly examine the contents of the package. However, in such a pressing situation, every step he took had to be extremely cautious, as the slightest mistake could lead him into the enemy's trap.
"They won't give up so easily," Su Ming reminded himself calmly, not letting up at all. The enemy was clearly a professional, their pursuit incredibly swift and precise, clearly well-prepared. The importance of the package might be even greater than he imagined. If the enemy discovered his current movements, he would be in grave danger.
As he sprinted, pondering how to escape, a sudden chill ran down his spine. This chill didn't come from the night wind, but rather a strong intuition, as if he had overlooked some crucial detail. Su Ming's steps suddenly paused, and the image of that person suddenly surfaced in his mind—the faint gaze from behind, watching him.
"Oh no!" Su Ming's heart sank, his eyes suddenly sharp. In his focus on escaping the immediate pursuit, he had completely forgotten about the "third person" lurking in the darkness. His instincts, which should have been sharp, had been temporarily obscured by the tense situation! Who was this third person? Or was this person somehow connected to the mysterious "Master"?
He was filled with alarm, but he had no time to dwell on it. He could only quickly adjust his plan. The looming sense of danger behind him grew stronger, gripping every nerve in his body. He didn't even have time to look back and confirm, relying only on his experience to determine that the person's presence might be more dangerous than the group chasing him.
"If he's the enemy, I'm afraid I've already been completely exposed." A sneer flashed through Su Ming's mind, but he couldn't stop. Any hesitation could lead him into an irretrievable situation. He knew that in this spy war full of undercurrents, the enemy's stealth and patience far exceeded imagination. At this moment, the "hunter" behind him had already set his sights on him, and might even have set a trap, waiting for him to fall into it.
Su Ming quickly entered an even narrower alleyway, mentally mapping out multiple escape routes. The buildings here were old and densely packed, the winding alleyways like a maze. By exploiting the complex environment, he might be able to find a way to shake off any pursuers.
However, just as he stepped deeper into the alley, he noticed a faint figure swaying ahead. His pupils constricted instantly, and he quickly pressed himself against the wall, his breathing slowing dramatically. The alley was dimly lit, and the figures seemed oblivious to his presence.
Su Ming cautiously poked his head out and saw several men in black standing at the entrance of the alley, talking in low voices, clearly waiting for someone to arrive. This scene made his heart tighten.
"Ambush," he quickly concluded. The enemy had indeed been prepared. This meant that not only was he being pursued from behind, but his retreat had also been blocked by those in front. The enemy's deployment was so thorough, clearly they knew his movements intimately.
"Is this all a trap?" This thought made Su Ming's heart tighten. The other party's methods were so sophisticated, as if every move he made had been anticipated. Such a meticulous plan could not be a coincidence.
Su Ming gritted his teeth, rapidly thinking of a countermeasure. Various possibilities raced through his mind. He couldn't act rashly now; he had to find another way out. Any direct confrontation would put him in even greater danger. He needed to exploit the complexity of the situation and the enemy's negligence to find a breakthrough.
He quickly glanced up at the surrounding buildings. The old walls were already showing visible cracks, covered in moss and tangled electrical wires. Su Ming's mind shifted. Although these buildings were dilapidated, their complex structures also provided him with opportunities for concealment. Right now, this might be his only way to escape.
Su Ming's eyes were fixed on the roof of a low bungalow not far away. It was his shortcut to a higher place.
