Chapter 462 Full of temptations

Chapter 462 Full of temptations

Su Ming's heart skipped a beat. He knew Zheng Yaoxian was no simple matter. The more he interacted with him, the more he felt the mystery he held. There seemed to be an invisible barrier between them. Zheng Yaoxian was constantly, intentionally or unintentionally, pushing himself further from the truth, while he himself was already deeply trapped, unable to extricate himself.

"Can you tell me... what exactly are we doing?" Su Ming couldn't help but ask, with a hint of helpless urgency in his voice.

Zheng Yaoxian's eyes were deep, like an abyss that could see into everything. "You don't need to know all the truth, Su Ming. You just need to understand that all your choices were made the moment you came into this world."

"I'm not a tool," Su Ming said through gritted teeth. Although he was filled with uneasiness when he said this, he knew that he had to say it, otherwise he would be completely lost.

Zheng Yaoxian's eyes flickered slightly, and he reached out and patted Su Ming's shoulder. The movement was so gentle that it could not be ignored, but the oppressive feeling contained in it made Su Ming almost suffocate.

"You've long ceased to be a tool, Su Ming," Zheng Yaoxian said calmly, with a hint of undetectable excitement in his tone. "You've now become part of the situation."

These words pierced Su Ming's heart like a needle. He suddenly realized that he was no longer the insignificant outsider he had thought he was. He was deeply drawn into this vast game. Zheng Yaoxian's every move and every word subtly changed everything about him. He was no longer an ordinary person capable of independent judgment and choice. His fate was already in the palm of Zheng Yaoxian's hand.

"I don't believe it," Su Ming whispered, his voice filled with uncontrollable anger and confusion. He felt like he had lost all sense of direction. "How much have you been hiding from me?"

Zheng Yaoxian seemed to have anticipated his reaction, a hint of coldness flashing across his eyes. "Hide? Do you really want to know the whole truth? Are you sure you can handle it?"

Su Ming was silent for a moment, but there seemed to be a strong force in his heart, trying to squeeze more truth out of Zheng Yaoxian.

"Do you think I'll tell you everything?" Zheng Yaoxian's voice suddenly turned cold. "If you knew everything, not only you, but everyone around you would be threatened."

"Threat?" Su Ming's heart twitched when he heard the word. "Are you threatening me?"

Zheng Yaoxian's face remained expressionless, his expression remaining calm. "I never threaten anyone. What you need to know is that the rules of this game were set from the beginning, and you can't change them."

Su Ming suddenly felt a profound sense of powerlessness. He had never truly realized the sheer enormity of his situation, or the insignificance of his role. Deep within him, a deep sense of fear and unease crept in. Who was he serving with all this? Was it for Zheng Yaoxian, or for some other purpose beyond his comprehension?

He began to feel an overwhelming sense of emptiness, as if he had been swallowed by some invisible vortex, from which he could no longer escape. No matter how he struggled, how he tried to find a way out, all his efforts seemed to be obliterated by those cold eyes and Zheng Yaoxian's unquestionable decision.

Su Ming stood before the gloomy building, his hands shoved in his pockets, his face expressionless. He knew that today wouldn't go as smoothly as he'd hoped. This negotiation was almost certainly doomed to failure, yet he still decided to enter the heart of this dilemma, even though everyone thought he was courting death.

"What are you going to do?" Zheng Yaoxian's voice suddenly came from behind, low and calm, with the kind of pressure that made it impossible to refute.

Su Ming turned back, facing the face that was still as cold as a sculpture. He was no longer oppressed by that gaze as before. On the contrary, today, he felt that the distance between him and Zheng Yaoxian seemed even greater.

"Negotiation." Su Ming answered concisely, his eyes firm and filled with an unprecedented determination.

Zheng Yaoxian stared at him for a moment, his lips curled up slightly, a smile that held a subtle, almost imperceptible meaning. "Do you think you can do it?"

"I think so." Su Ming said without hesitation, his tone more steady than before, "This is our only chance."

Zheng Yaoxian was silent for a few seconds, as if trying to gauge Su Ming's resolve. Finally, he nodded gently. "If you fail, I can't guarantee that anyone will come to save you."

"I know." Su Ming's voice remained calm, even with a hint of determination. He knew that having reached this point, there was no turning back. He was no longer the clueless employee he had been before, but was gradually gaining control of a portion of the situation. Although this portion was insignificant, this time, he no longer wanted to passively accept any of fate's arrangements.

He turned and walked towards the building, his steps steady. Zheng Yaoxian didn't follow him. He stood still, his eyes following him the entire time, as if waiting for Su Ming to make a mistake.

"I will win," Su Ming silently told himself, though he wasn't entirely convinced at the time. His mind reverberated with the conversation with Zheng Yaoxian, the cold, merciless warning. It all seemed like a pre-set game, and he was nothing more than a manipulated pawn.

Entering the building's lobby, the air was filled with a chill. People came and went, but no one paused, as if all life was bound by the building's icy atmosphere. Su Ming's heartbeat began to accelerate. He clenched his fists, trying to remain calm. The negotiation table was just ahead. Several people sat there, their eyes filled with tentativeness and scrutiny, as if they were already waiting for the conversation to begin.

"You're here." One of the tall men stood up, staring at Su Ming through his thick glasses, a barely perceptible smile on his lips. "I assume you are Su Ming?"

Su Ming nodded slightly, speaking nothing as he stared directly into the man's eyes. He could sense the provocation, but he remained undeterred. He knew this negotiation itself was a psychological warfare, with both sides waiting for the other to reveal a flaw. At this moment, all perseverance and determination became paramount.
