Chapter 208 Shocking Little Days
Chapter 208 Shocking Little Days
Mei Chuan stood on the deck outside the cabin, watching the steel-armored falcon gradually return on the horizon.
This spirit beast, which he had painstakingly raised, was highly agile and swift in its movements. Once it was sent on a reconnaissance mission, it almost never failed.
He thought this would be just an ordinary mission: to find a suitable landing point on Ling Island and then successfully land on the island with Vice President Sakata.
But as the armored falcon drew closer, he noticed something was off about it. Its wings trembled slightly, as if it were hesitant, even uneasy, as if it had witnessed something incredible.
"What happened?" Mei Chuan muttered to himself, his brows furrowed. He stepped forward and gently stroked the falcon's shoulder armor, trying to calm it down.
The Armored Falcon cannot speak, but it can communicate with its owner through body language and mental link.
At this moment, the falcon suddenly shook its wings, and after a few vibrations, it struck an unbelievable pose—it kept tapping the floor with its claws, while raising its head, widening its eyes, and letting out a few sharp cries.
Immediately afterwards, it pointed its wings toward the distant horizon, but did not gesture toward the sea.
"Wait a minute...you mean the island flew into the sky?" Mei Chuan was stunned, his tone revealing his surprise.
He couldn't believe the message the falcon was trying to convey, but its reaction was all too clear—the Spirit Island they had coveted for so long was not at sea at all, but had mysteriously flown into the air!
"How could it possibly fly into the sky?! Are you seeing things?" Mei Chuan tried to suppress his unease, but Ling Jun shook his head and repeated the same instruction, pointing his wings in a higher direction.
Mei Chuan's face immediately darkened. He knew his armored Falcon never made a mistake, especially not in such a crucial mission. Rubbing his temples, he muttered under his breath, "Damn it! What on earth is going on..."
Mei Chuan dared not delay, and hurriedly turned around, taking Ling Jun back to the main cabin deep inside the ship. He could not handle such a drastic change alone; he had to report this bizarre news to Sakata as soon as possible.
Inside the cabin, Sakata sat steadily in a chair, his eyes half-closed as he pondered something. Next to him sat Miki and Tanaka, the two quietly discussing their next plan of action. Hearing Umekawa's hurried footsteps, Sakata looked up and gave him a somewhat disgruntled glance.
"Meichuan, why are you running so fast? Is something wrong?" Sakata asked calmly, his face still expressionless.
“Vice President…” Mei Chuan, catching her breath, quickly walked up to Sakata, bowed slightly, and said in a low but excited voice, “The news that Ling Jun brought back… is very strange. You probably won’t believe it—that spirit island seems to… have flown into the sky!”
As soon as he finished speaking, not only did Sakata's brows furrow, but Miki and Tanaka, who were sitting next to him, were also stunned.
"Flew into the sky?" Sakata raised his eyes, looked Mei Chuan up and down, and a hint of disbelief gradually appeared on his face. "Say it again, are you saying that Ling Island flew into the sky?"
“Yes! My falcon saw it with its own eyes.” Mei Chuan said firmly, then added, “It kept indicating that the island was high in the air, not on the sea. I checked it several times, there’s no way it could be wrong.”
Miki couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this, with a hint of sarcasm. "Meichuan, an island that can fly into the sky? You don't even believe it yourself, do you? Did you mistake the Spirit Falcon for a giant flying spirit beast?"
“How could that be!” Mei Chuan immediately retorted, “My Steel Armored Falcon has never had any problems, and it couldn’t possibly be that uneasy. If it were just a normal island situation, it wouldn’t react like this.”
"Calm down." Sakata raised his hand to signal the two to stop arguing, his eyes filled with deep thought. "If Mei Chuan's falcon is right, then the problem is very serious. A natural island could never fly into the sky. It is highly likely that there was human intervention."
Tanaka finally spoke, his tone icy, "Human intervention...you mean it might be the survivors' doing?"
Sakata nodded. "That's right. I think it might have been achieved through some kind of magical gadget. But for an entire island to fly into the sky, there's no doubt that the island must hold something priceless."
Mei Chuan nodded in agreement, "That's what I guessed too. The island must have been lifted into the air for some special reason, perhaps there's some secret hidden on it."
“But this method is too strange.” Miki frowned. “Even if they are survivors, how could they possibly lift the entire island into the sky? How powerful would that require? Could it be a Radiant Orange-level item?”
Everyone immediately fell into a brief moment of contemplation. This conjecture, though seemingly absurd, was the only plausible explanation. Indeed, the only thing they could think of that could cause such an outrageous change was a rare, extraordinary item like a Radiant Orange-level artifact.
As the leader, Sakata quickly broke the silence, stating firmly, "Whatever the reason, we must take this island. The fact that it can fly shows that it's no ordinary deserted island; its value far exceeds our imagination."
This area is potentially coveted by any powerful force; we cannot afford to stand idly by.
Mei Chuan nodded quickly, "The vice president is indeed farsighted. Although the island's location in the sky increases the difficulty of landing, we cannot give up."
“That being said, the problem is how to get up there,” Tanaka said in a low voice. “Once the island is airborne, our shelter’s ship-like structure simply cannot approach it directly.”
After thinking for a moment, Miki suggested, "We can do this: first, we can stop the waters below the island where the shelter is located, stabilize the situation, and then use pets with the ability to fly as the vanguard."
Send a few people on mounts to scout the situation. If it's stable and there's no danger, then we'll figure out how to move the shelter to the island.
Sakata nodded. "Good. Send someone to scout first. Whose pet can adapt to high-altitude environments and is fast enough to avoid being shot down?"
Mei Chuan spoke up, "My Armored Falcon is perfectly capable of handling this. It excels at high-altitude flight, is fast and stable, and with a little armament, it can handle most dangers."
“Two of my men also have pets that can fly,” Miki quickly added, not wanting to be outdone.
Sakata glanced at them, then said calmly, "Then let Umekawa lead the Falcon as the vanguard to scout ahead. Your men will go with him, and the rest of you will stand by for now. Once you have a clear understanding of the situation, if there is no resistance, then act quickly."
"Understood!" Mei Chuan's expression was firm, but he couldn't help feeling nervous inside.
Sakata added, "Remember, no matter what means we use, we have only one goal—to take over the island. Whether it's survivors or ferocious beasts on the island, anyone who threatens our interests will be eliminated."
The group responded in unison, their eyes filled with determination and ambition. Under Vice President Sakata's plan, this operation was, for the first time, venturing into the unknown.
Their shelter gradually slowed down, ripples on the sea surged into the distance, and above the sky, an unknown collision was quietly gathering.
