Chapter 21 Gathering in Winterfell, Heading North and South, Part 2
Chapter 21 Gathering in Winterfell, Heading North and South, Part 2
"Any new developments over at the Great Wall?"
Ned looked at Rob and asked.
"Since Lord Bai Ze and Uncle Benjen led the rangers to capture the wights and figure out a way to deal with them, we haven't received any new news. We've drawn about 50 people from various parts of the North and they've already assembled and gone to the Wall. We've also sent several batches of supplies, but there are no new developments for the time being."
"It seems we need to gather all the lords from across the land for a meeting in Winterfell. Together, we'll help His Majesty Robert reclaim the throne belonging to House Baratheon and send House Lannister to hell!" Ned said fiercely.
"It's a good opportunity to send a message to the Great Wall to call Brother Bai Ze back. He knows more about what's happening there!"
I entrust the task of sending letters to the lords in various places to Maester Luwin to you, the sooner the better!
Aside from a few lords in the south who were tasked with defending against the Lannisters, who sent letters instructing them to hold their posts, all other lords from the surrounding territories were to be present, as it would be a good opportunity to probe the defenses of Bolton in Dreadfort.
If they have truly betrayed us and are no longer of one mind with the North, then we must eliminate this threat beforehand. At this crucial moment, we cannot be soft-hearted.
"I understand. I'll go prepare the raven and the letter right away."
Maester Luwin rose, bowed to the King and Ned, and left the council chamber.
"Robert, after this meeting, I plan to send you south to lead the army. You will be the commander-in-chief!"
With Lord Glover of Deepwood Keep and Lord Umber of Hearthglen as your lieutenants and vanguard, the Lannisters will certainly take action against the Riverlands. We cannot allow any problems to arise with your mother's family.
After you head south, Robert will, in the King's name, order the Eyrie to send troops. At the same time, I will send your mother to the Eyrie in the Vale to have your aunt send troops to help you. You will be in charge of the rest of the battlefield arrangements!
Ned Stark believed his son was ready to take up the banner of the North. This time, he sent Robb south with several veteran advisors by his side. He was confident that Robb could help Robert destroy the Lannisters and reclaim the Iron Throne!
…
Just as the North was preparing its strategy of moving north and south, King's Landing was also preparing to move north and south to defend against Stannis Baratheon's attack from Dragonstone.
Have Varys and Baelish find a way to seduce Renly Baratheon of Storm's End in the south, so that he can inherit the Baratheon family title and lands. Also, send a delegation to persuade House Tyrell of Highgarden to marry Margaery Tyrell, thus achieving the goal of a marriage alliance.
By consolidating the strengths of the West and South, we can better confront the threats from the North and Baratheon.
Lord Tywin Lannister of the West has summoned the Lannister vassals and troops to Casterly Rock. Inside the Casterly Rock council chamber, Tywin Lannister is discussing with his brother Kevan Lannister and the vassals how to launch an attack on the North.
Have you seen all the things sent from Dragonstone and the North?
Kevan Lannister looked at Tywin's expressionless face and asked.
"I see! Even if it's all true, our King Robert is still alive. As long as we can defeat them and slaughter them all, then all the problems will be solved, everything will return to normal, and we will still be the victors!"
The words, devoid of any emotion, came from Tywin's mouth, and the cold tone sent chills down one's spine!
"So how do you plan to fight this war? The number of troops we can deploy is not an absolute advantage, and the High Court in the south has not yet made its decision."
"We can only deploy about 100 men in total right now. We also need to leave some men behind to support the Royal Territory and defend against Stannis's navy and Storm's End," Kevon said to Tywin with a serious tone.
"Ranley in the south won't make a move until Highgarden has made its final decision; he's still too inexperienced!"
Our first priority is to deal with House Tully of Riverrun in the Riverlands. The Tullys and Starks are related by marriage. If we want to march north and attack those wolf cubs, we must first eliminate the dogs following them!
Tywin pointed to Riverrun on the map and addressed the crowd.
"I plan to split my forces into two groups. One group, led by me, will go straight to Rushing City from Golden Tooth City and take it. We will also send 5000 men to guard our home base. The rest of the men will take the Golden Road directly east, cross the Blackwater River, and head north to take Harrenhal."
"And send messengers to the castles east of the royal domain to monitor Dragonstone and provide support to King's Landing at any time. Jaime will lead this force!" Tywin pointed to the map and outlined the battle plan.
“When the wolf cubs from the north are cut off from their southward route and their supply lines are long, we will have an absolute advantage! No matter how many wolf cubs come, I can bury them all on this river island!” Tywin said coldly.
“I agree with your idea. This way, we can defeat the Tully family and also stop the attack from Winterfell and the Eyrie, whose situation is unknown.” Kevan also agreed with the old lion’s plan.
"Furthermore, in the name of the Hand of the King, I have appointed Tyrion to serve as Hand of the King during my campaign, to be responsible for handling the affairs of the kingdom and defending King's Landing."
Although he disliked his dwarf son, Tywin felt that Tyrion was far more intelligent than his easily angered daughter and his newly enthroned "grandson" Joffrey I, and that he could be a good advisor to the two of them.
…
And so, both sides began their offensive, advancing both north and south, each wanting to have more and better cards in their hands. But! With Bai Ze, that overpowered guy, in the North, how could they possibly lose!
Meanwhile, on the Wall, Bai Ze had already led Jon Snow out of the Wall once again, heading north to explore the traces of the First Men and the White Walkers. This time, they wanted to try using a purple rare weapon and a pink artifact to test their damage against the White Walkers. The wights could be eliminated using normal methods, but the situation with the White Walkers was still uncertain. With Jon Snow as a navigator, things should be fine!
I wonder if I'll ever run into Jon Snow's wildling lover again!
The group headed towards Hardship Keep, where Sam had encountered the White Walker on horseback wielding an ice spear. Heading this way should lead them to the ice spear White Walker and his troops.
Moreover, this time they prepared a good thing for the White Walker army: "Explosive Bombs" from the dungeon. How could they not let the White Walkers have a good taste of such a must-have for home and travel?
The blast radius is still unclear, but it will definitely damage the ghouls, just the extent is uncertain. This trip out will be a good opportunity to test the blast radius and damage when thrown into a group of ghouls.
The wind and snow outside the Great Wall were getting heavier and heavier, and the nights were getting longer. Xiao Meng's robot assistant, Ya Lei Jia, could no longer accompany them for long periods of time due to the wind and snow. She could only provide Bai Ze and the team with visibility during the day when the weather was best and the wind and snow were less. The journey over the past few days had been very arduous for everyone.
"Lord Bai Ze, do you have a goal? If we continue like this, and we don't find the White Walkers, it will be very dangerous if we are found by the Wildling King's army!"
Jon Snow, seeing that they hadn't encountered any wildlings or White Walkers after several days of travel, was worried that the group might have stumbled into a large wildling tribe.
Just as Jon Snow was speaking, Aleja above his head sent a message to Bai Ze, saying that a large army of wights was marching towards them in the valley in the distance, followed by White Walkers on horseback. The main force had arrived!
We can ambush them on the hillside at the valley entrance and test the level of the First Men's Others, to see how many levels they have!
Bai Ze led the group up the mountain on the side of the valley where the White Walkers came from. They should be able to see the White Walker army once they reached the top of the hill!
"Ghouls! ...A massive number of ghouls!!!"
A sharp-eyed ranger leading the way spotted the ghoul army slowly making their way into the valley and turned to shout to us, who were still climbing the mountain.
Bai Ze and the others quickly reached the mountaintop, where they watched the army of wights emerge from the valley. At the very back, a White Walker on horseback wielding an ice spear came into view.
"My God! There's another blue-eyed White Walker! Lord Bai Ze, what do we do?"
Everyone was a bit bewildered, as it was the first time they had ever seen so many ghouls and the leader of the Others appear together.
"Don't rush. Judging from the size, there should be around 200. Let me give them a surprise. Leave the last White Walker to me. You can clean up the wights around you in a bit!"
"Bring me those bags, Jon Snow, prepare the torches, let the show begin!"
The ranger retrieved the backpack containing explosive charges that Bai Ze had brought from the back. Bai Ze took one out and explained to the group:
"After watching their actions, we can't let any of these White Walkers escape today. If they get away and find the Wildling tribe, their numbers might multiply several times over the next time we encounter them! Get the Molotov cocktails ready, and we'll throw them over their heads together in a bit!"
Bai Ze held the explosive bomb, while Jon Snow lit a torch and waited beside Bai Ze.
Bai Ze looked at the ghouls that had reached the foot of the mountain, then held the explosive bomb close to the torch that Snow had taken, lit the fuse, and threw it towards the area with the most ghouls! The others also lit the incendiary bombs they had prepared and threw them towards the ghouls.
The bomb slammed into a ghoul's head, the metal object mercilessly flattening his skull. The surrounding ghouls, dumbfounded, showed no reaction to the ghoul who had suddenly collapsed while walking by.
"boom!"
A deafening explosion ripped past our ears and the White Walkers riding behind us. The blast radius was at least 15 meters, and the wights within that radius were blown to pieces, while the White Walkers a little further away from the blast center were also knocked off their feet.
"yeah!"
Bai Ze raised his hands and cheered. Before anyone could react to the explosion, what was that thing? It was incredibly powerful, capable of shattering a corpse demon in one blow, and the area affected was so vast!
The ghouls below the slope had already recovered from the damage from the incendiary and explosive bombs and charged up the slope. Behind them, the White Walkers on horseback pointed their ice spears at Bai Ze and let out hoarse roars!
Bai Ze looked at the crowd who were still standing there, unaware of the attack they were about to launch.
"What are you all standing there for? Light everything you're holding and throw it out! Those who aren't strong enough, take the torches. Don't let anything blow up and end up blowing up your own people!"
As he spoke, he picked up another explosive bomb, lit the fuse, and threw it down the slope. There was no time to check where there were more or less; he just wanted to blow it up. The ghouls charging down the slope were bombarded with incendiary and explosive bombs in quick succession. After everyone had thrown away all the weapons they had, about 50 ghouls were still held back by the fire at the bottom of the slope.
"It's time to have some fun!"
The experience from the two encounters with the ghouls will allow Bai Ze, who is level 27, to level up immediately. The level 30 White Ghost riding on his horse must die today!
The incredibly fast Bai Ze charged straight towards the White Walkers riding horses not far down the slope, leaving the wights around him to the fully armed Rangers and Jon Snow.
On his way to the White Walkers, Bai Ze secretly placed a Soul of Kazan, which can increase the strength and intelligence of his teammates.
Running close to the White Walker, Bai Ze leaped up and unleashed a devastating attack. The White Walker blocked Bai Ze's blade with his ice spear, and both of them fell off their horses due to the force of the blow!
The White Walker lay back on the snow and slid backward for quite a distance, while Bai Ze pulled back and knelt on the ground.
Seeing the White Walker slide away, Bai Ze quickly stood up and rushed forward, wanting to dislocate the arm holding the ice spear with one strike. Bai Ze remembered that this thing, like the White Walker's body, was not to be touched; touching it would freeze the person and shatter them into ice shards!
I glanced at the pink artifact in my hand. The blade was still intact and not frozen, which meant it was a magical weapon. It seemed that the attributes could be neutralized. I would have to prepare a thawing potion!
World Instrument! Bai Ze remembers that the adorable Min Tai has a special mare's milk drink that can thaw frozen food. He wonders if that thing will work.
Bai Ze aimed another Mountain Crash at the White Walker's arm, but the White Walker was no pushover. Before it could fully stand up, it raised its weapon and blocked Bai Ze's attack.
He swung his ice spear at Bai Ze's abdomen, but Bai Ze blocked the White Walker's attack with a downward slash. Before the White Walker could retract his arm, Bai Ze followed up with a slash that struck the White Walker's arm. The top-grade artifact, like the Valyrian steel sword, worked on the White Walker, and Bai Ze severed the White Walker's arm from the upper arm down.
The surrounding wights were quickly dispatched by Jon Snow and the Rangers with swords and Molotov cocktails. Everyone watched as Bai Ze and the White Walkers fought desperately back and forth, their movements so fast that those around them widened their eyes and swallowed hard.
The White Walker, having lost an arm, did not give up its attack, punching Bai Ze in the abdomen with its left fist!
Bai Ze was knocked back several steps by the power of the Others, and the armor on his abdomen began to freeze from the places where the Others touched him!
Bai Ze quickly took out a bag of Min Tai's special mare's milk drink and drank a couple of sips. This replenished his health and thawed the frozen state; the ice flowers on his armor stopped spreading. Seeing the drink had worked, Bai Ze laughed twice.
"Hahaha... Hahaha! If you don't die this time, I'm going back to Winterfell and moving!"
Just as Bai Ze was thawing from drinking Min Tae's special mare's milk drink, the White Walker picked up his ice spear with his only remaining left hand. Looking at Bai Ze, who hadn't been frozen solid, he raised the ice spear as if he were shooting Daenerys Targaryen's dragon son, intending to stab Bai Ze to death!
The gun was very fast. Seeing the ice spear flying towards him, Bai Ze instinctively rolled to the side to dodge the attack. However, the ice spear still had a lot of power and flew to the back, piercing the thigh of a ranger!
In just a few seconds, the unfortunate man was turned into a frozen figurine. Only then did the onlookers realize that they were facing a White Walker, not a swordsman dueling in a Winterfell tavern.
Jon Snow quickly led everyone up the hillside. The guy, frozen solid like a figurine, was beyond saving, and no one dared to touch him. Everyone had clearly seen how he had been frozen in an instant.
The White Walker, now without his ice spear, brought his left hand together, forming a sword shape, and attacked Bai Ze. He knew that if he touched Bai Ze's body, he could still freeze him; otherwise, he would be here today.
Bai Ze watched as the Otherworlder charged towards him, stood up and rushed towards him as well, dodging his hand sword and sidestepping his arm while simultaneously slashing his back with his sword.
The demonized body wasn't severed, which means that Valyrian steel swords and dragon glass are uniquely effective against White Walkers. They can shatter a White Walker into dust with just a touch. However, there aren't enough Valyrian steel swords to finish this battle against the White Walkers. The rare and artifact swords in hand are enough. If one sword can't cut it down, then two will do!
The White Walker turned around and lunged at Bai Ze again. Bai Ze used a cross slash to strike the White Walker's arm as it charged towards him. This time, the arm was severed, but a large cross was left on the White Walker's chest, almost slicing the White Walker into a pizza.
Bai Ze didn't forget to finish off the White Walker, stepping forward to sever its head. The severed head rolled onto the snow, and the blue light in its eyes slowly faded, no longer shining.
Just then, a familiar voice rang in Bai Ze's mind! "Ding!"
