Chapter 36 Daenerys Targaryen Crosses the Sea to White Harbor to Attack the Night King

Chapter 36 Daenerys Targaryen Crosses the Sea to White Harbor to Attack the Night King

After finally gathering enough ships in Slaver's Bay, Daenerys led her fleet across the Summer Sea, traversing the midline between the two continents from the Stone Steps Isles of Dorne.

After resupplying in Tyrossy, Daenerys continued sailing north. In the Narrow Sea, she also dealt with a group of pirates and rescued a group of merchants traveling between the two continents.

Upon learning that they were a trading caravan traveling from Storm's End to Pentos, Daenerys stopped them along the way, collecting a small protection fee, as she wanted to learn more about the latest developments on the continent.

The merchants of Storm's End also learned that this queen was the last surviving member of House Targaryen. Just as they were sweating profusely, thinking that Daenerys would kill them to avenge her family, Daenerys summoned the leading merchant.

The Unsullied soldiers led the merchant to the room where Daenerys was holding her meeting on the ship. Missandei stepped forward and said to the merchant:

"Homage to Daenerys Targaryen I, Stormborn, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Silver Queen, Dragon Queen!"

The merchant stepped forward, knelt, and bowed. Daenerys told him to rise and asked, "Who is in power in Westeros now?"

"Previously, the Lannister family assassinated King Robert I, instigating a rebellion in the royal domain and the western army, which has been suppressed by the king with troops from the North, the Riverlands, and the Vale!"

All Lannister family members and vassals in the Westerlands have been escorted to the Wall!

Former Queen Cersei used King's Landing as leverage, and burned the Baratheon Stormlands forces to death with wildfire on the King's Road south of King's Landing. Lord Renly was seriously injured, but was later rescued.

The merciful King Robert spared the last Lannisters of King's Landing, banishing them from the city. The Seven Kingdoms are now under King Robert's rule!

The merchant told Daenerys everything he knew, and after listening and thinking for a moment, Daenerys continued to ask:

"Where is your king now?"

The merchant continued, "The king held a grand tournament and investiture ceremony in King's Landing. Lord Bai Ze from the North was granted the title of Duke, and his fief is the Western Territory."

Then we heard that the White Walkers, vanished from mythology, were lurking beyond the Wall in the North, so His Majesty the King led the elite warriors of the Seven Kingdoms north to the North!

Just then, the three dragons that had gone out to forage flew back, and the commotion of them landing on the roof of the cabin made the ship shake.

Missandei stepped forward and opened the window. The three dragons stretched their necks through the window one by one and nuzzled around Daenerys.

The merchant gasped at the sight of the three dragons, abandoning his kneeling posture, and plopped down in the cabin, pinching his face and staring wide-eyed at the three dragons.

Daenerys looked at the merchant's performance and proudly raised her chin. Her three dragon sons were her capital now, and when they grew up, they would be her capital to conquer the world again.

Daenerys stroked Drogon's large head; the three dragons, already almost the size of a minivan, were no longer big enough to fit on the ship.

Most of the time, Dani would let the dragons go out to get used to flying and controlling their bodies, so that they could get used to their growing bodies as soon as possible.

Dani touched Drogon's neck and thought for a moment before saying:

"If I want to find your King now, should I go directly to the Northern Border?"

The merchant quickly knelt down again and replied:

"Yes, Your Majesty, most of the leaders of the Seven Kingdoms have now gone north, so the White Walkers beyond the Wall may be true."

"Then we'll continue north. You're all safe now. Once you've packed your things, you can leave the fleet and head to Pentos!"

Daenerys did not make things difficult for a mere merchant and let them leave her northward-bound fleet.

The merchant quickly bowed and thanked Her Majesty the Queen for her kindness and assistance, then left the room with the Unsullied soldiers.

A short while later, the merchant led his slightly smaller fleet to the right and headed toward Pentos.

Daenerys then got up and walked out of the cabin, looking to the left of the fleet. After sailing for a short while, the towering Dragonstone Castle appeared on the left side of the fleet.

At this moment, Jorah Mormont stepped forward, looked at Daenerys with eyes full of longing, and said:

"your home!"

"It used to be!"

Daenerys looked at Dragonstone Castle and answered without the slightest hesitation.

At that moment, a fleet of ships appeared in the direction of Dragonstone. Daenerys immediately ordered her people to be on alert and sent messengers to inquire about the fleet's intentions and destination.

The two fleets continued in the same direction, sailing north for some distance. The returning messenger brought back a man from the opposing fleet, a knight wearing the new armor I had given King Robert.

Missandei stepped forward again and repeated the audience address. The knight from Dragonstone knelt on one knee and bowed to Daenerys, saying:

"Your Majesty, are you well?"

Daenerys looked at the neatly dressed knights and asked:

"Are you heading north to the northern border? What business do you need a knight like you to escort you?"

The knight already knew that this was one of the two princes (sons of the king) who had previously escaped from the Dragon family. The fact that he did not attack when he encountered his fleet seemed to be related to the task that His Majesty the King had entrusted to Lord Stannis.

"Your Majesty, the fleet is carrying dragon crystals found in the underground caves of Dragon Island. The White Walkers outside the Wall in the North have been resurrected!"

His Majesty and Lord Stannis learned from Lord Bai Ze that dragonglass is a weapon that can be used to fight the White Walkers. My journey north is to deliver the forged dragonglass arrowheads, as well as some axes and daggers, to His Majesty the King!

Daenerys, knowing that the knights' fleet shared the same goal as her, didn't inquire further about the fleet's situation. Instead, she asked one more question:

"Oh! It seems things have gotten quite serious. Is there any new news from outside the Great Wall?"

"We received a message from the raven earlier, saying that the Wildling King's camp was massacred by a large army of wights led by the White Walkers, and now there may be less than one-tenth of the Wildlings outside the Wall!"

Daenerys also sensed how quickly the White Walkers were acting. If she couldn't wait for her dragon sons to grow up, the White Walkers would have already led their forces into the continent. At that time, the White Walkers' forces would only grow larger and larger, and in the end, Westeros would have nothing left!

Where is your fleet headed?

"We will stop at White Harbor, where Lord Mandalay's son, Lord Willis, will receive this batch of supplies and send them to the Great Wall!"

The knight did not conceal his destination; he vaguely understood that Daenerys might be returning with her dragons and troops to help.

"Alright, we'll land with your supplies, and we'll head to the Great Wall too!"

Daenerys also told the Knight of Dragonstone about her destination, instructing him to report it upon arrival in port, in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

"Thank you for your help, Your Majesty!" The knight bowed respectfully to Daenerys.

After speaking, Daenerys dismissed the knights and sent them back to their own fleets. The two fleets then headed in the same direction toward White Harbor in the North.

 …

Two days later, the fleet, sailing with the wind, arrived at White Harbor. The knights of Dragonstone immediately went ashore to report that Daenerys had come with three dragons and a fleet.

Willis Manderle dared not make such a big decision alone, so he hurriedly summoned his cousin, Sir Marlon Manderle, commander of the White Harbor garrison, and Maester Siomer, who were left behind at the Mermaid Palace, to discuss whether or not to allow Daenerys's troops to pass.

Finally, it was Bachelor Siomer who said:

"I've also heard that King Robert, Duke Ned, and Lord Bai Ze were going to invite the Mother of Dragons and the dragons from Essos to come to the North to help!"

Since this was an invitation from King Robert, let's not make any further decisions and just let them head north with this batch of dragon crystal weapons!

Willis, you lead the supplies ahead. Follow the waterway to the Whiteblade River near Winterfell, where you'll meet up with another batch of supplies heading north.

"Just let Her Majesty Daenerys's troops follow you. She hasn't caused any trouble for the Dragonstone fleet along the way, so she probably won't do anything to you either!"

The old scholar's words reassured Willis Mandalay, who then arranged for someone to go to the port to deliver a message, while he himself went to gather people to prepare to enter the river and continue northward to transport supplies.

Upon receiving the news, Daenerys ordered her troops to change ships, using smaller boats that could navigate the rivers to transport supplies. She herself also changed ships, preparing to continue north with the White Harbor fleet.

The old maester also used ravens to deliver news of Daenerys's forces arriving at White Harbor and continuing their northward march with supplies to the Kings of Winterfell and the Wall.

 …

The atmosphere at the Great Wall of Despair was anything but relaxed. Everyone could clearly feel that the weather near the Great Wall was getting worse and worse. Sometimes the blizzards during the day could last all day, and the dark clouds in the sky were blocking out the sun for longer and longer periods of time!

The number of times the Wall Rangers and Robert's forces went out of the Wall to search for the White Walker army did not decrease. The White Walker army was like a wolf crouching in the thick grass at night, waiting to hunt its prey. You could feel it watching you, but you just couldn't find it.

Several times, the rangers' search missions were met with attacks from ghouls and ghoul dire wolves, resulting in the loss of some men each time. This caused some of the southern nobles who had come north to complain more.

One day, Maester Aemon found Robert with a letter delivered by a raven and said:

"Look, Daenerys has arrived at White Harbor with three dragons and a troop of troops. She and the dragon crystal weapons that Dragonstone is sending have already headed north along the Whiteblade River and should arrive in a few days."

Robert had completely forgotten about this Targaryen, but to his surprise, she actually came to the Wall with her army and dragons after receiving the news. Robert called over the guards and said:

"Summon all the adults from various places, I need to hold a meeting!"

The guard saluted and turned to leave to gather men to inform the lords. Robert was also pondering how to treat Daenerys once she arrived at the Wall.

While Bai Ze and Lyanna Mormont were playing swordsmanship in the courtyard of Castle Black, still unaware of the news, the earnest, brave, and lovely little lady missed her uncle and followed the main group to the Wall.

The sensible Lyanna has never been willful or mischievous. She wrote to ask Old Bear for permission before coming to the Great Wall and only came with the team after receiving his consent. After seeing Lyanna at the Black Castle, Bai Ze asked Xiao Meng to accompany her.

Because there are hardly any women left at Black Castle now.

At this moment, a guard ran over and told Bai Ze that the king had summoned all the officials for a meeting. Bai Ze then asked Jaime, who was talking to Tyrion, to continue playing with Lyanna. The weapons in their hands were rare weapons that he had given them, so they were not afraid of damaging each other's weapons during the sparring.

Previously, Bai Ze had promised Jaime to help him retrieve the greatsword he had given him. Bai Ze sent someone to find Robb and told him about Jaime. Robb also somewhat agreed with this former Kingsguard who had changed a bit. He retrieved the greatsword that had been hidden away and returned it to Jaime one afternoon.

The group arrived at the council chamber, where Robert had been waiting for them for quite some time with a wine glass in hand. It seemed that Daenerys was putting a lot of pressure on Robert.

After everyone had arrived, Robert said:

"Daenerys has arrived at White Harbor with her three dragon sons and troops. The supplies destined for the Wall have already headed north. How should we deal with this dragon queen whose dynasty we overthrew and whose family we slaughtered?"

The crowd was buzzing with discussion but no one had a serious idea. Bai Ze looked at the nobles and ministers in the room, all of whom had already rebelled. Bai Ze wondered how many of them would be able to put up a fight if Daenerys led her dragons to attack their home.
