Chapter 63 "Public Welfare Blood Donation"
Chapter 63 "Public Welfare Blood Donation"
Bai Yexiu stretched lazily on the balcony, looking at the gloomy sky.
Today marks the monthly "Blood Donation Day".
He changed his clothes, held a black umbrella, and strolled leisurely through the light rain as if taking a walk.
His destination was the organization's research group's base in Japan. Since it was the organization's base, he couldn't possibly take a taxi; even if it rained, he would have to walk.
This isn't just a charity blood donation; in fact, it concerns his future.
If the boss promises him something, he will definitely do it!
This is a principle that Bai Yexiu has always firmly believed in.
The organization has set up its new base at another pharmaceutical factory. Gin blew up the previous factory because Sherry escaped—because the organization has never lacked pharmaceutical factories under its control.
But this made things difficult for Bai Yexiu, as the distance between the apartment and the factory was quite far, and it took him several kilometers to get there.
Why did you put the research group so far away again this time? Was it intentional?
Bai Yexiu walked into the factory building through gritted teeth.
Previously, when we were abroad, we moved our base twice, and both times it was several kilometers away from Bai Yexiu's residence, and we couldn't even take a taxi.
The outpost is no different from an ordinary pharmaceutical factory; the only difference is the content of the research conducted inside.
He had glanced at her a few times when he was on the mission to warn Sherry, and knew that she seemed to be researching some kind of poison, but he hadn't looked at anything else closely. However, he was certain that it was the same drug that Conan had taken.
Besides Sherry, the other teams in the research group were also researching different things, which made Bai Yexiu a little confused—besides the main drug they were researching, what side business was the organization doing? Or was it making poison for the organization to make things easier for the action groups?
But no matter how curious he was, he couldn't ask any more questions. As everyone knows, in the organization, being too talkative can be fatal.
"Hey, Cointreau, you're here!"
Upon opening the door to a research lab, a boy who looked like a high school student waved enthusiastically at Bai Yeshu: "Come on, I've been waiting for you for ages."
The boy in front of Bai Yexiu is Pei Nuo. Besides Pei Nuo, there is an American man standing next to him, who is smiling at Bai Yexiu.
"It's Uncle Scarman! Long time no see!" Bai Yexiu greeted him with a smile.
“Little Jundu is still so polite.” Skaman spoke in broken Japanese, affectionately ruffling Bai Yeshu’s hair, before getting to the point: “Professor Scully and that gentleman asked me to come; I’m in charge of this transport.”
Bai Yexiu obediently extended his arm to Pei Nuo, who was holding a syringe, and then turned to greet Scarman: "Please give my regards to those old men when you go back. If you need me, I can go back anytime."
Pei Nuo quickly drew a vial of blood, put it in a test tube, and then silently left the research lab at Scarman's signal.
"How's the progress? You know I'm in a hurry." This was the question Bai Yexiu asked immediately after Pei Nuo left.
Seeing Bai Yexiu's solemn expression, Scarman smiled and said, "Don't worry, the professors won't let you down."
Seeing that Scarman did not answer his question directly, Bai Yexiu frowned and his tone became slightly firmer: "But right now I just want to know the progress."
"I'm so sorry," Scarman said with an embarrassed smile.
"I'm just an assistant to those old guys, and there are many things I can't participate in, but I believe it should be soon."
Bai Yexiu's tightly furrowed brows eased slightly. His eyes were complicated, and he seemed to hum a tune before turning his head to the side: "I'll believe you for now."
Skaman looked pleased and ruffled White Nightshade's hair again: "When did Little Jundu become as impatient as Rum?"
Bai Yexiu slapped Skaman's hand away speechlessly, "I still remember the grudge that old bastard threw me out on the street in the middle of the night last time. And... what are you touching? Don't touch me!" After saying that, he left the research room.
Skaman shook his head helplessly, put the blood on the table into a small box and put it in his pocket, muttering to himself, "I have to call Professor Scully and the others. Time is running out for Jundu."
When Bai Yexiu came out, he found Pei Nuo already waiting in the corridor for a long time. Pei Nuo pulled Bai Yexiu aside and whispered, "I've always been curious why you keep providing blood samples. Even if you're doing research, the blood you provide is never handed over to our research group. So who are you giving it to?"
Seeing Pei Nuo's curious expression, Bai Yexiu smiled helplessly: "It's just Father's order." He couldn't tell Pei Nuo these things, especially his own matter.
"Could it be that the organization has other groups besides the research group that are doing scientific research?" Pei Nuo said thoughtfully. "I'm the deputy leader of the research group. If those blood samples you've provided over the past few years were handed over to our group, I should know about them... That's strange..."
As she pondered this, Pei Nuo's gaze shifted to Bai Yexiu: "Do you know who ended up with the blood samples you provided?"
Bai Yexiu felt that Pei Nuo was now full of curiosity, which was not the case when he was doing research!
"Whose hands are they?" Bai Yexiu asked indifferently, "The organization's."
"..."
Coindus, you really are good at talking nonsense.
“That’s really…” Pei Nuo’s expression twisted slightly: “Hearing your words is like hearing a lecture from a wise man.”
"Ah..." Bai Yexiu pretended to be troubled and rubbed his forehead: "Father told me not to tell anyone. But don't worry, it's definitely not anything outrageous."
At this point, Pei Nuo stopped pressing the matter. After all, it was that gentleman who forbade Bai Yexiu from saying it, so it must involve organizational secrets. But the fact that Bai Yexiu said it wasn't anything excessive relieved Pei Nuo.
“Alright then.” Pei Nuo didn’t press further. “I still have research to do. Ever since Shirley defected, my workload has become that of two people.”
Pei Nuo bid farewell to Bai Yexiu with a mournful face.
Bai Yexiu's lips twitched, and he was somewhat moved.
Poor Pei Nuo.
