Chapter 123 Unexpected Changes
Chapter 123 Unexpected Changes
Lin Ziping felt a surge of anger. He tried to feel the man's forehead, and it was burning hot; he had a fever.
Back in the steward's room, seeing that he was still unconscious, they went up and beat him again, then lit candles and searched the room.
She took clean clothes and keys and unchained Hong Lao Er around the neck. Fearing he would wake up and attack her, she tied his hands and feet with chains and dragged him into the house with great effort.
"Hong Lao Er, wake up quickly." Lin Ziping patted Hong Lao Er's shoulder and called out softly.
Finally, thanks to Lin Ziping's tireless efforts, Hong Lao Er slowly woke up.
"mother--"
“What mother, calling me fairy!” Lin Ziping blurted out.
“Fairy—” Hong Lao Er stared at Lin Ziping in a daze.
Lin Ziping realized he had spoken out of turn. He looked at the sky; it was already broad daylight, and if he stayed any longer, he would probably be discovered.
Seeing that Hong Lao Er was not fully awake, Lin Ziping said, "Change your clothes yourself."
After saying that, he untied the chains binding his hands and feet and quickly left.
"You're back." Gao Chi sat upright on the ground and asked as he saw Lin Ziping return.
"Hmm." Lin Ziping nodded. Seeing that Gao Chi didn't ask what he was doing outside, he continued, "I went to the steward's room and beat him up."
Gao Chi looked at Lin Ziping in surprise, and after a long while, he slowly said, "Be careful."
“I know,” Lin Ziping replied.
Suddenly someone ran over and shouted, "There's chaos down the mountain! Go help!"
Lin Ziping's spirits lifted upon hearing this, and he leaned closer to Gao Chi, whispering, "Brother Gao, is he one of your men?"
Gao Chi glanced at Lin Ziping but did not answer.
"What's wrong?" Li Qiongying and Xiaochunzi rushed over.
"People are coming down from the mountain. Take care of yourselves," Gao Chi said in a calm tone.
Li Qiongying took the hoe from Xiaochunzi and nodded, saying, "Sixth Brother, you all need to be careful too."
Lin Ziping looked at the two of them. If it weren't for the strange situation around them, he would have liked to ship the two of them as a couple. Was he and Xiaochunzi really just superfluous?
"Here, take this as a weapon." Gao Chi took a carrying pole from somewhere and handed it to Lin Ziping.
Lin Ziping looked at Gao Chi in surprise, not expecting him to give him a weapon.
He didn't answer the question, "And you?"
"Please protect Qiongying for me," Gao Chi said.
Seeing that Gao Chi wasn't just being polite, Lin Ziping took the carrying pole and said, "Okay."
Someone ran out of the cave, and Lin Ziping and the others followed them down the mountain. They hadn't gone far when they heard a loud "boom" and a high cloud of dust rose behind them.
The cave collapsed!
Amidst the swirling dust, cries of agony could be heard.
"Hurry, hurry down the mountain—"
The sound came from nowhere, as if a switch had been flipped.
"Go—go quickly—"
The people who ran out were in a panic, pushing and shoving as they ran.
Lin Ziping, unaware of what was happening, steadied himself and moved to the side while following the flow of people.
"Hold on tight, don't fall, move to the side." Lin Ziping recalled the stampede incidents he had witnessed before and reminded the people around him.
After an unknown amount of time, Lin Ziping noticed a fork in the road and quickly squeezed through it, while Gao Chi and the other two were swept forward by the crowd.
Seeing this, Lin Ziping hurriedly chased after him, but was pushed aside by the crowd, and he didn't know when he had dropped the carrying pole in his hand.
I thought to myself that I wouldn't squeeze through for now, and I'd go down the mountain to find them later.
Lin Ziping turned back onto the side road, then suddenly remembered that this was the way to the steward's house.
Since we can't leave anytime soon anyway, we might as well go and see how Hong Lao Er is doing.
Lin Ziping strode toward the steward's room, but as soon as he pushed the door open, a stick came straight at him. Although he reacted quickly and hurriedly stepped back, his arm was still hit.
it hurts--
Before he could even check, several more blows came in quick succession, and Lin Ziping quickly dodged.
"You little thief, where do you think you're going? Grandpa was just about to go look for you when you showed up at my door."
Lin Ziping looked over and saw that this was the manager! He had clearly tied himself up when he left, so how did the manager untie him, and how did the other person recognize him?
Seemingly noticing Lin Ziping's doubts, the steward sneered, "You're really arrogant. You dare to go up again without even changing your clothes. You're really tired of living."
After saying that, he waved the stick in his hand and came at Lin Ziping.
Lin Ziping dodged repeatedly, but unfortunately the carrying pole had been pushed away, otherwise he would have had a weapon to defend himself.
Seeing Lin Ziping leaping and dodging, and occasionally throwing things at him, the manager's anger intensified, and he attacked even more fiercely.
Perhaps due to the difference in physical strength, or perhaps because his injuries had not fully healed, Lin Ziping gradually lost ground and was hit by several blows.
Suddenly stepping on a pebble, Lin Ziping fell to the ground.
The steward threw down the stick, stepped forward, and grabbed Lin Ziping by the hair.
"Slap slap—" Two slaps made Lin Ziping see stars.
"Run! Why aren't you running anymore?" the steward roared with a sinister laugh.
Lin Ziping covered his head, glared at him fiercely, and kicked him wildly with all his might.
"Slap slap—" Several more slaps.
Lin Ziping felt like his scalp was being ripped off, and without caring about how disgusting it was, he started spitting in the manager's face.
"I think you're asking for it." The steward grabbed Lin Ziping by the collar.
Suddenly the steward paused, then burst into laughter: "Haha, I didn't expect it to be a young woman! Today is my lucky day, I can finally have my fill! Your Master Hong has been holding back for so long, haha..."
Upon hearing this, Lin Ziping's pupils dilated, and his mind went blank.
The steward released his grip on Lin Ziping's collar and instead began to pull at Lin Ziping's clothes.
"Let go!" Lin Ziping struggled desperately.
The manager suddenly stood up, covering his private parts, and said viciously, "You bitch, so impatient, I'll grant your wish."
As he spoke, he lunged at Lin Ziping and pinned her down.
Lin Ziping's eyes were filled with tears, and he felt an indescribable regret. He should have just obediently followed them down the mountain.
"She's crying so hard, it's heartbreaking," the steward muttered, spewing profanities.
He lowered his head and moved closer to Lin Ziping.
Lin Ziping's eyes turned red, and he bit his ear.
"Ah—" the manager cried out in pain.
In a flash, Lin Ziping raised his foot, pulled out the dagger strapped to his leg, and plunged it viciously into his neck.
The manager abruptly stepped back, clutching his neck and staring at Lin Ziping in disbelief.
Lin Ziping got up and stepped forward, continuing to stab the steward with the dagger.
One cut, two cuts...
Blood gushed out and splattered onto Lin Ziping's face.
Bright red blood stained her eyes, and only one thought occupied her mind: kill him!
After an unknown amount of time, the steward's eyes widened, and he collapsed to the ground, motionless.
Lin Ziping stared blankly at the blood on his hands, then looked at the lifeless steward, suddenly threw the dagger away, covered his face, and collapsed to the ground.
Tears welled up in my eyes, and memories of the past flashed through my mind. I could no longer hold back and burst into tears.
