Chapter 73 Xilena Boswell
Chapter 73 Xilena Boswell
"The toilets are now ready."
In the banquet hall's restroom, Lin Chen examined the iron chains before him and nodded in satisfaction.
He had already started imagining the scene of Zuo Xia rushing to the toilet after taking laxatives, finding the door locked, and then frantically rushing back to his room.
Whether he held it in or not, he always had to go back to his room.
After checking the locks again, Lin Chen returned to the kitchen, pretending to be busy while looking around.
He quickly spotted the supervisor that Brother Hao had mentioned: the guy's bald head was so shiny it looked like a light bulb, making him hard to miss.
Wherever the supervisor went, Lin Chen would walk in the opposite direction. Every now and then, he would pick up a plate of wine, walk out the door, circle around twice, and then walk back, constantly avoiding the supervisor's route.
After what seemed like an eternity of winding around, Louis's voice came through the headset:
"Attention, Zuo Xia has been spotted. He has left his room and is heading towards the banquet hall."
"Room number, 3812."
"Zhanyi, can you see it?"
"The view is very clear."
A light rain was falling. On the balcony of the office building, Li Zhanyi gently moved the muzzle of his gun, aiming at the floor-to-ceiling window of room 3812.
The Waldaff is, after all, a super-luxury hotel, and even the standard rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, which provides snipers with a convenient field of vision.
"It seems he checked in several days early, but the curtains are drawn tightly," Li Zhanyi said softly. "Sir, remember to open the curtains when you move around, otherwise I won't be able to assist you."
"Understood," Lin Chen's voice came through. "Is there anything else you need, Miss?"
Hearing Lin Chen call her "Young Miss", Li Zhanyi's lips curled up slightly.
"There are many beautiful flowers in the Waldaffodil banquet hall. Please bring one back for me later."
"Heh... Got it." Lin Chen chuckled lightly.
"You two are really... stop messing around," Louis's voice came through, "It seems like Section Chief Jiang is being harassed by someone."
"Do you need any help?" Lin Chen asked softly.
"It's okay, I can handle it."
After saying this, Jiang Zhengge turned around and looked at the girl who had called out to him.
With long, flowing, sea-blue curly hair and deep blue eyes that accentuated her delicate, soft features, she wore an elegant white tulle dress that highlighted her slender figure, and her beautiful collarbones were particularly eye-catching under the banquet lights.
The young woman walked to Jiang Zhengge's side, looked up at the man in a formal suit, and gave him a soft smile:
"You look quite handsome in this outfit."
"tide Leina," Jiang Zhengge's expression was somewhat stiff, "Why are you here?"
"What, are you surprised that I'm not on the guest list?"
The girl called tide Leina peered around Jiang Zhengge, her deep blue eyes shimmering.
"Long time no see, you've grown old."
"You haven't changed at all," Jiang Zhengge said, shifting his gaze. "What are your plans?"
"So? Didn't you come to the carnival?" Xileina blinked. "Then I'll join. What can I do to you? Beat you up?"
At this moment, as the music began, guests entered the ballroom's dance floor in groups and danced to the band's music.
Jiang Zhengge stared at the girl for a while, then turned his head and walked to a table in the corner.
He hadn't taken two steps when his hand was grabbed.
Jiang Zhengge shook off the girl's hand, turned his head, and looked at her expressionlessly.
But the girl simply gave a gentle smile:
"How long has it been since we danced together?"
"..."
"The section chief seems to have run into someone he knows; they're even dancing," Louis said in a low voice.
"Hmm? There are acquaintances here? Are you alright?" Li Zhanyi asked.
"Section Chief is unavailable right now, please don't worry, let me scan your facial information..."
Louis was silent for a few seconds, then he took a deep breath.
"What's wrong?" Lin Chen asked softly.
"Syriana Boswell," Louis said softly, "She's Syriana Boswell! A famous singer and actress in Rain City, one of the foundation's top stars!"
The moment Lin Chen heard the phrase "top-tier foundation," he knew something was terribly wrong.
"She...is a demigod?"
"That's right, her rating is unknown, but outside speculation suggests she'll be at the Delta level. After all, her main profession is singing, and even her film work is related to her acting career," Louis said softly. "But ultimately, she's a demigod, and tonight's situation... isn't looking good..."
"..."
Taking advantage of the opportunity to carry the wine tray out, Lin Chen glanced at the dance floor, searching for that touch of sea blue.
He soon spotted tide Leina: Jiang Zhengge was dancing with her on the dance floor, their steps so fast that everyone moved away to the sides.
Section Chief Jiang and she... seemed to know each other quite well.
"..."
As the music ended, and as Easter eggs were launched into the sky, the large screen on one side of the banquet hall lit up.
"A very impressive dance, ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for enlivening tonight's grand event! Now, we will proceed with the opening ceremony of the Rain City Star Film Carnival!"
Amidst resounding applause that echoed throughout the hall, Jiang Zhengge released tide Leina's hands and turned to walk out of the dance floor.
He casually found a table to sit down, and as soon as he looked up, he found tide Leina sitting down next to him.
"Are you spying on me?" Jiang Zhengge frowned.
"Do you hate me that much?" Xileina said softly.
Jiang Zhengge stared at tide Leina for a while, then turned his head away and muttered:
"Where are your bodyguards? Where are those foundation's lackeys?"
"I told them not to bother me," Xileina chuckled.
I thought they would stick by your side.
"So I asked them to take a nap and recharge," Xileina tilted her head, "Is that too much to ask?"
Jiang Zhengge smiled disdainfully. He subconsciously reached for a cigarette, but realized he hadn't brought one, so he could only pick up a wine glass instead.
Seeing that Jiang Zhengge didn't send her away again, tide Leina smiled once more.
"I won't bother you tonight," she said softly. "I know what you're here for, and I can help you."
"I won't trust a demigod," Jiang Zhengge put down his wine glass. "That little yellow duck won't be coming back."
After saying that, he got up and walked away into the distance once again.
Before she had taken two steps, Xileina spoke up:
"I guess you want to see Zuo Xia, right?"
Jiang Zhengge turned his head and met tide Leina's somewhat stubborn little face.
"Are you going to tell him?"
"I'll introduce you to him," Xileina said, picking up her glass and swirling it gently. "This guy's planning to use the carnival as an opportunity to run away. Hmph, I haven't liked him for a long time. He was always pointing fingers at me when we were filming..."
"If I don't accept your recommendation, are you going to tell him?" Jiang Zhengge asked again.
"Do you have to think of me so badly, Lao Jiang..."
A hint of grievance appeared in tide Leina's eyes.
"It's been so long, let me help you out, anyway..."
"...You won't be able to struggle for much longer."
