Chapter 80 The Bear Goblin
Chapter 80 The Bear Goblin
Thor stood upright on the jagged rock, facing the gnolls below, and spread his enormous wings wide.
The scorching sunlight poured down on him, making his red scales look like a branding iron that had been heated to a bright red, with a faint iridescent halo around the edges.
The magical blood surged at high speed through the large blood vessels inside the wing membrane, causing bright streams of light to penetrate the skin and intertwine into strange patterns resembling rising flames, flickering on the surface of the body.
"My name is Thor Heliozog Ethermog... the eldest son of the great Dragon Mother Tiamat, the chosen dragon destined to conquer all living beings in the world."
It is a pleasure to meet you here. Surrendering to me will be the wisest decision you will ever make in your life.
Unfortunately, not all creatures are as intelligent as you. Those damned green-skinned bastards dared to refuse my gift!
"Now, take me there immediately and burn them all to ashes!!"
The enormous sound waves echoed and swirled through the canyon, making the gnolls below buzz and almost unable to think.
Upon hearing Thor's command, these inherently ferocious and bloodthirsty evil creatures immediately let out an excited roar, their voices filled with an irrepressible desire.
They had long harbored resentment towards those earth spirits, and countless frictions and conflicts had occurred between them. Now, they were overjoyed to be able to take revenge with the help of the red dragon.
Moreover, where there is fighting, there will inevitably be death, and all the corpses will become food to fill their stomachs—whether they are goblins or gnolls, as long as they survive, they will surely have a full meal, which is an irresistible temptation for them.
A chaotic group of jackals charged forward, their tongues lolling out of their mouths and foul-smelling saliva dripping from their lips.
Because of their natural hunchbacks, these creatures appear much shorter than their actual height, and sometimes they even run on all fours, looking like a hyena magnified several times.
The goblin's lair wasn't far from here. Thor followed the gnolls over several low mountains in the sky, and soon at the foot of a mountain, he saw some hidden caves, which were the goblins' dwelling place.
Some goblins, their bodies tattered, were lazily lying on the ground basking in the sun. Their small, red eyes gleamed with cunning, constantly on guard against attacks from their companions, while also waiting for an opportunity to ambush their unsuspecting kin.
Because of their extraordinary reproductive ability, these goblins see their kind as constantly being born in their nests, while the food they plunder from the outside is always limited.
Limited food supplies must be met with an ever-increasing number of companions, which makes them all competitors for survival. They must always be on guard and dare not relax their vigilance in the slightest.
Several goblins sitting high up suddenly caught a glimpse of the rapidly approaching dragon shadow in the distance. They shuddered and sprang to their feet, their faces filled with terror.
Their naturally extreme personalities make them not only prone to anger, but also easily happy, and even overly optimistic.
As soon as they gain the slightest advantage in any area, they become complacent and often misjudge the situation, foolishly choosing to provoke enemies far stronger than themselves.
After Thor let these goblins go yesterday, they didn't think that their survival was due to his kindness. Instead, they believed that they had escaped by sheer cleverness.
As for Thor's instruction to return to the same spot and wait the next day, they immediately forgot about it and didn't take it to heart at all.
Seeing the dragon approaching from afar, the goblins finally began to feel fear, their previous smugness and pride vanishing completely.
"The red dragon is coming! The red dragon is coming!"
"Run! Run away!"
"Your Majesty, save me! Your Majesty, save me!"
The squeaking and screeching soon echoed throughout the foot of the mountain, and the goblins scattered in panic like headless flies, creating a chaotic scene.
Thor landed on a neighboring hilltop, a sinister smile spreading across his face as he looked at the bastards who dared to disobey his orders.
The magic within him surged wildly into his throat, and the next second, a dazzling flash of light erupted from his mouth.
The highly condensed fire element was compressed into scorching rays that traveled hundreds of meters and landed precisely among the goblins.
The two unlucky goblins were hit head-on by the ray, and their bodies were instantly burned and blasted open with holes the size of large bowls. They died on the spot without even uttering a sound.
As Thor shook his head, the orange-red light, like a divine sword of punishment, crisscrossed the entire goblin race, constantly slicing through the bodies of goblins and leaving behind spiderweb-like burn marks on the ground.
Such a terrifying breath directly shattered all the goblins' will to resist. They wished they could grow two more legs to escape, and dared not have the slightest thought of resistance.
After one round of breath attacks, the gnolls below surged into the goblin's lair area like a tide.
These humanoid hyenas, some brownish-yellow and others grayish-brown, had bloodthirsty glints in their eyes and emitted eerie cries that sounded like both crying and laughing, sending chills down one's spine.
Bloodlust and excitement stimulated the demonic bloodline within them, and faint magical fluctuations emanated from their bodies, causing a barely perceptible black aura to swirl around their skin. Their eyes shone with a terrifying gaze that could instill fear in any living being.
The goblins, already terrified, were like lambs to the slaughter in front of them, their throats constantly being bitten or their bellies ripped open by the gnolls, turning them into corpses on the ground.
After unleashing a burst of heat rays, Thor stopped fighting and instead sat on the hilltop, watching with great interest as his newly subdued followers slaughtered each other.
He noticed that after bathing in the blood of their prey, these gnolls seemed to have increased strength and speed, as if they had been subjected to a group bloodlust spell.
As creations of the abyssal demon Yenogu, almost all gnolls share a conceptual connection with him.
Any act of killing will be defined as a prayer to him, and the souls and fears of the enemy will be offered as sacrifices in exchange for the blessing of his domain.
This was supposed to be the established rule, but at this moment, Thor discovered that the souls and fears that should have been sacrificed to Yenogu had been quietly intercepted by him and transformed into streaks of essence flashing below his vision to provide additional clues.
The goblins at the foot of the mountain were quickly slaughtered by the gnolls. Still not satisfied, the gnolls licked the blood from their lips and began to spontaneously gather towards the caves, wanting to search for more prey.
One of the gnolls, with its tan fur, pounced on the largest cave ahead of everyone else, quickly disappearing into the darkness deep within.
Not long after, a fierce fighting suddenly came from the cave, accompanied by the muffled thuds of heavy objects hitting each other, violent roars, and the agonizing cries of the dying.
This sudden turn of events immediately alerted the other gnolls, who all stopped in their tracks and fixed their gazes on the entrance to the cave.
Under the watchful eyes of many, heavy footsteps echoed from the cave, growing ever closer, until a massive figure covered in coarse hair emerged from the wide cavern.
It is over 2.5 meters tall and weighs over 200 kilograms. It has a bear-like face and huge claws, and looks just like a black and green polar bear standing upright.
This is a bear goblin, the largest and fiercest of all goblin-like creatures.
Ordinary gnolls are as insignificant as domestic dogs in front of a brown bear, and four of them emerged from the cave.
