Chapter 15 Food Shortage
Chapter 15 Food Shortage
The two sides argue incessantly every day, but judging from the current situation, the number of people supporting the conservatives is still far greater than that of the radicals.
Even today, with the internet down, they learned of the devastation outside from the last live news broadcast.
A monster that even the army cannot defeat, a catastrophe for humanity!
No one will come to save them.
The person who died outside was named Lin Yaozong. He was a physical education student when he was in school, and later became a physical education teacher after graduation.
He was impulsive, and when he realized there was no hope of rescue, he was the first to lose control, grab a hammer, and rush out.
Before leaving, he promised that if he got out alive, he would tell the authorities what had happened here and ask people outside to come and rescue them.
"Does everyone really believe that?" Miao Yin asked.
"That's not."
Zhang Manyu secretly pointed to the brown-haired woman who had spoken earlier.
"That woman's name is Liao Qian. She's Lin Yaozong's girlfriend. They've been dating for almost three years and are even talking about marriage. It's because of her that we believe Lin Yaozong. No matter what, he can't just abandon his fiancée, can he?"
"But she didn't seem that sad; I thought they were just acquaintances."
Moreover, Liao Qian appears to be more of a conservative.
Zhang Manyu smiled enigmatically: "That's right..."
Liao Qian turned around as if sensing something, and Zhang Manyu nodded at her in a friendly manner.
"Is that all?" Miao Yin asked.
"Huh? What?"
"I mean, is this all that's happened after you've been here all these days?"
“…Of course, what else could it be?” Zhang Manyu’s expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly masked it.
Miao Yinjing looked at it for a while, then gave a bright smile: "I understand, thank you."
"It's nothing," Zhang Manyu said politely, but a hint of disgust flashed in her eyes as she looked at the bright and beautiful person in front of her.
"I've told you everything that's going on here. Tell me about yours too."
Miao Yin looked puzzled: "Didn't I tell you everything about me?"
"Isn't there anything else? You've been hiding outside for several days now, haven't you really found anywhere to escape to?" Zhang Manyu pressed.
"Sister, you're joking. If I could really get out, why would I have run away here?"
“…That’s true. If you remember anything important, you must tell me first.” Zhang Manyu looked at her sincerely.
"of course can."
Zhang Manyu then walked away, satisfied.
Miao Yin relaxed her body and leaned against the wall. Her current position, though seemingly in the corner, actually allowed her to see everyone's movements.
A strange smell of blood, an unusual amount of household garbage, silent children, a woman who is two-faced, and Liao Qian, who remains calm despite the death of her lover...
This central control room holds many secrets...
Before Miao Yin arrived, everyone in the control room had already finished dinner, and no one would bring her food, not even the enthusiastic Zhang Manyu.
Lin Yaozong's death seemed to have dealt them a great blow; everyone was silent, and the few occasional sounds were arguments.
As darkness fell, if you leaned against the door and listened carefully, you could still hear the sounds of abnormal activity outside.
The survival experience over the past few days has clearly taught the people here about some of the habits of the deformed people.
Nighttime is when they come out.
Without the sun's protection, the situation here is even more dangerous.
"It's time to turn off the lights," someone whispered.
So the person sitting next to the control panel got up and turned off the lights in the control room, leaving only the lights in the toilet room on.
They lay down on the floor with practiced ease, and the only sound in the control room was the quiet sound of breathing.
Miao Yin lay down as well, and in the darkness, no one noticed the strange glint in her eyes.
She entered the Guanyin Eighty-Eight Temple quietly after most people had gone to sleep late at night.
The survival strategies of the apocalypse made it impossible for Miao Yin to fall asleep among so many strangers, so she decided to have a late-night snack at the Eighty-Eight Temples.
The few crystal cores that had been collected earlier had been absorbed by the supernatural power. The rich power directly elevated Blood Guanyin to a higher level, and even the scenery in the Eighty-Eight Temples became clearer.
In the space, a crescent moon hangs high in the sky, casting cold moonlight. In the thin white mist, eighty-eight tall Guanyin temples stand solemnly and majestically on the plain.
Miao Yin sat on the temple roof and enjoyed a delicious Michelin dinner. Then she leaned against the temple wall and took a short nap before returning to the control room before dawn.
People in the control room go to bed early and wake up early as well.
Waking up from a sweet dream to find the room crammed with so many people and smelling the sour stench in the air, many people became grumpy, clumsy, and threw things around, waking up the others who were still sleeping.
And so, the new day began with another argument.
The group argued about everything from the water for washing their faces to their parents and even their ancestors for eighteen generations, until they were belatedly silenced by a violent shove at the door.
After everyone quieted down, the aberration banged on the door a few more times, and only left after realizing it couldn't be opened.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
After everyone had finished washing up, Liao Qian began distributing the food.
These foods were all taken from the amusement park; most of them were snacks, along with some sausages and the like.
But with fifty-six people, no matter how they were divided, it was still uneven, and everyone was starving.
There was a kettle for boiling water in the control room, so she opened three more packs of the last instant noodles and distributed them to those who had no food. Because the portions were small, each person could only eat a few bites.
People who are hungry always want to eat one more bite, but those behind them are watching longingly. Before they've even eaten much, they're scolded for eating too much, leaving no way for those behind them to survive.
Yesterday's tall, thin man, Wang Hong, when it was his turn, glanced at the next girl eating, and then ate all his instant noodles in one go, leaving only a few mouthfuls of soup.
"What do you mean!" the girl snapped.
"What do you mean?" Wang Hong asked knowingly.
"What am I supposed to do if you eat all the noodles?!"
"There are still some left! What are you yelling for! Believe me or not, I'll throw you out to feed the monsters!" He threatened the girl with a scoundrel-like demeanor.
"You!" The girl was trembling with anger, wishing she could slap him across the face.
Clearly, this wasn't the first time Wang Hong had done something like this. Relying on his slight ability, he deliberately took more food and bullied those weaker than him.
He stood up, lewdly touched the girl's face, and said disdainfully, "I've risked my life to get so much food from the amusement park, what's wrong with taking one more bite from you? I'd rather let you go hungry for a meal, so what?"
After saying that, he threw the leftover instant noodle box at the girl and looked at her with a grin.
"You son of a bitch!!!" The girl was furious and was about to get up to hit him, but Liao Qian stopped her.
"Never mind, I'll give you more," she reassured him.
Then others complained: "Why should she get more? What about ours? Others are starving. Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to make decisions!"
"that is!"
Liao Qian frowned and had no choice but to patiently appease both sides.
"Hey Liao Qian, stop pretending to be the boss. What's the point of just splitting it all away? Getting more food is the right thing to do," Wang Hong said sarcastically.
Liao Qian glanced at him and said, "Easy for you to say, go ahead and do it."
Wang Hong laughed: "Oh, you're getting impatient? I'm just giving you advice. Does that mean you can only get food from outside?"
Liao Qian frowned, clearly realizing what had happened: "It's been twelve hours already?"
"It's early."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone's eyes turned to that corner.
Those greedy, hungry eyes were fixed on Yan Shuzhou.
