Chapter 49 The Great Temple Fair Adventure
Chapter 49: The Temple Fair Adventure
Upon hearing the system's voice, Liu Yu's heart skipped a beat. "Oh dear, who knows what kind of weird thing this new task will be?"
The system said, "Host, your task is to find a talking parrot in this temple fair and get it to utter the specified code."
Liu Yu's eyes widened. "What? A talking parrot? This temple fair is so big, where are we going to find one?"
The child overheard this, blinked, and said, "Brother, I know where to buy parrots."
Liu Yu said happily, "Really? Then take my brother there quickly."
The child led Liu Yu to a stall, where there were indeed several colorful parrots.
Liu Yu stepped forward and said to the parrot, "Little guy, quickly say the code."
The parrot tilted its head and glanced at him, then cackled twice.
Liu Yu became anxious, "That's not how you call it, it's a code."
The stall owner smiled and said, "Sir, this parrot needs to be trained to say what you want."
Liu Yu sighed helplessly, "Then you should start training quickly."
The stall owner picked up a melon seed and lured the parrot, saying, "Come on, say 'Open Sesame'."
The parrot was too busy eating sunflower seeds to pay any attention to him.
Liu Yu was both amused and exasperated. "What are we going to do?"
Just then, Xiaoqing and Bai Suzhen also arrived.
Xiaoqing laughed so hard she couldn't stand up straight when she saw Liu Yu's anxious look at the parrot. "Brother-in-law, you're so clumsy. Watch me."
Xiaoqing sang and danced to the parrot, trying to attract its attention.
The parrot glanced at her a few times, then turned its head away and continued preening its feathers.
Xu Xian suggested, "Why don't we lure it with delicious food?"
So they bought a bunch of fruit and put it in front of the parrot.
The parrot looked at the fruit but remained unmoved.
Bai Suzhen said, "Perhaps we should speak to it more gently."
Following Bai Suzhen's instructions, Liu Yu whispered to the parrot, "Little parrot, be a good girl and say the code, and you'll get a reward."
The parrot finally spoke, "You're so long-winded."
Liu Yu nearly fainted from anger. "What is all this?!"
Everyone had been busy for a long time, but the parrot still wouldn't give the signal.
Just then, an old man dressed in strange clothes walked over and said, "I can make this parrot talk."
Liu Yu was skeptical. "You really have a way?"
The old man smiled mysteriously, took out a small bottle from his pocket, and waved it in front of the parrot.
The parrot suddenly became excited and shouted, "Heavenly King covers the Earth Tiger!"
Liu Yu jumped up excitedly, "Great! We're finally saying the code!"
After completing their task, they continued to enjoy themselves at the temple fair.
Liu Yu saw a ring toss game and said confidently, "I'm sure I can toss a lot of things."
He bought a large bunch of rings and started throwing them.
As a result, he failed to get a single ring; he either threw them too far or too far off course.
Xiaoqing mocked him from the side, "Brother-in-law, your technique is terrible."
Liu Yu was unconvinced, "I just don't believe it."
He threw a few more, but still came up empty-handed.
In the end, Liu Yu threw all the rings but didn't manage to ring anything.
Xu Xian said, "Brother Liu, let's go, let's not embarrass ourselves here."
Liu Yu blushed and followed everyone away from the ring toss stall.
As they walked, they saw a circus performer.
The performer walked a tightrope high in the air, and a large crowd below applauded and cheered.
Liu Yu was itching to try it too. "I want to give it a shot."
Before anyone could react, he had already climbed onto the tightrope.
After taking only two steps, he wobbled and almost fell.
Bai Suzhen was terrified, her face turning pale. "Liu Yu, come down quickly!"
Liu Yu clung tightly to the steel wire, saying, "I can't get down."
In the end, it was the performers who saved him.
Liu Yu slunk back to the ground, "Oh dear, how embarrassing."
Just as they were about to leave the temple fair, Liu Yu suddenly discovered that her wallet was missing.
"Oh no, my wallet!" Liu Yu frantically searched around.
Everyone helped search, but they couldn't find it even after searching for a long time.
Xu Xian asked, "Did you drop it where you were playing earlier?"
They went back to the places they had visited before, but still couldn't find it.
Liu Yu said dejectedly, "What am I going to do? All my money is in there."
Just then, the child ran over and asked, "Brother, is this your wallet?"
Liu Yu looked and saw it was her wallet. "Thank you, little friend."
The child smiled and said, "You're welcome, goodbye, brother."
Liu Yu and the others took their wallets and left the temple fair.
"This temple fair is both thrilling and fun," Liu Yu said.
"Yeah, but you're such a troublemaker," Xiaoqing said with a smile.
They continued on their journey, unaware of what wondrous encounters awaited them at the next stop...
