Chapter 15 Willis
Chapter 15 Willis
"Brave."
Upon learning of the hero's impending arrival, Caesar fed his conscience to the goblins and immediately woke the sleeping Luna.
"Night raid... Has this day finally come?"
"Waaah, come on, I'll be yours sooner or later anyway."
On the pristine white down bed, Luna's petite body was covered only by a thin gauze dress, her delicate skin tinged with a rosy blush, barely concealed.
She closed her eyes, turned her head and buried herself in the pillow, looking completely submissive.
"You're overthinking it."
Caesar grabbed Luna by the back of the neck and lifted her up. Talking about love in the workplace is a big taboo, especially with a strategist.
"I have important business to attend to."
Caesar cleared his throat and recounted the whole story.
Give me some time.
Luna's intelligence was worthy of the many life points Caesar spent buffing her with; in just half an hour, she had compiled a report.
"I did some research on the succubi and the information I heard from adventurers about the Holy See."
"If the intelligence is not too far off, I can confirm that the hero who came must be a 'wild hero' who was recently discovered by the Holy See and has not yet had time to be brainwashed."
Luna had Caesar materialize a blackboard, dressed her in a teacher's outfit from the short film, and the black-rimmed glasses and small pointer gave her small body a great sense of authority.
She tapped the blackboard and emphasized:
"The high-ranking officials of the Holy See are all ordinary bishops, and when it comes to succubi, they prioritize 'profit'."
"But the highest-level combat force in the Vatican consists of former 'Heroes' and 'Saintesses.' Due to their profession and beliefs, they focus more on the essence of succubi and disregard everything else."
"So, if it's true that the Vatican held several meetings, then it's just two groups arguing."
"The person in charge stepped back and allowed a [hero] to decide the nature of the succubus."
"And that [Hero] definitely can't be someone who has already chosen a side, otherwise we'll be labeled as monsters at the meeting. So the one who's here now is the Holy Knight."
"In conclusion, the brave warrior who came is most likely a newcomer."
Caesar was very satisfied with Luna's explanation. He patted his little teacher on the head and asked:
"So what should we do?"
"Open the dungeon as soon as possible, let Oliya come in again, and give her the task of connecting with the new hero."
"Before the hero enters the dungeon, we must at least understand what the hero's 'dream' is."
"It would be best to let Oliya and the hero go into the dungeon together."
"Dream? I thought it was about figuring out his personality."
"Dreams are a reflection of character."
Luna nodded and explained, "The profession of the hero means that before experiencing major changes, they must be among the most orderly and virtuous people. Their dreams define their character and essence."
"This method can only be used on a limited group of people, such as heroes; it won't work on others."
Caesar wholeheartedly agreed with Luna's words.
If you were to ask Olivia and Lucia what their dreams are, Caesar would never be able to guess what their personalities are like.
"Open the dungeon at dawn."
Caesar issued the order, and even Olivia, far away in North City, sensed Caesar's faint call.
Meanwhile, the esteemed Earl of Ston, dressed in full regalia before dawn, waited with several servants in front of the Earl's mansion for the arrival of a certain guest.
Who could command such respect from a powerful earl?
Naturally, it is the Holy See's [Hero].
Every hero will inevitably become a legend in the later stages of their growth. Even ignoring everything else about them, their potential is enough to make even a count or a duke lower their status.
Like his eldest son Orlando, Earl Ston was blond and blue-eyed, handsome, though a little overweight.
He had received news of the arrival of the hero two days earlier, but unfortunately his opponent learned of it before him and paid a high price to cut off his communication with Orlando. He had only just temporarily set up a teleportation array to send the message.
"Never mind, I'll take care of things here. As long as the hero contacts Orlando, he'll handle everything."
The Earl had great faith in his heir, and Orlando's excellence reassured him.
As dawn approached, the Earl gazed into the distance and saw a young man on the golden line of daybreak.
"Red hair, definitely a hero."
The count squinted and noticed that the hero was dressed in ordinary red linen clothes, and the only valuable thing he had was the longsword at his waist.
After each [Hero] class awakens, they will find their own unique weapon by chance.
This weapon is mostly a sword.
The first recorded "hero" in the world was the one who pulled out the sword that had accompanied him throughout his life from the mountain peak.
As the hero approached, the count and his men went forward to greet him, and only then could they see the hero's appearance clearly.
He was actually a true "young man," with a youthful face, blue eyes, and a calm expression.
He had a horrific knife wound that ran diagonally across his body from his left shoulder. The fresh, red flesh had not yet scabbed over, and it was only thanks to the powerful magic that the wound was held together and prevented from collapsing.
The hero—Willis, eighteen years old.
The count recalled information about the hero.
He was originally an ordinary person with extremely poor talent. He couldn't even reach level 10 and become a professional by the age of sixteen.
But on his sixteenth birthday, Willis's town was robbed by bandits, and his parents died in the robbery.
This was a man-made massacre.
I heard that Willis's parents were dismembered by robbers in front of him while he was hiding under the bed, all in an attempt to protect him.
Logically speaking, it's unlikely that someone with such deep hatred for bandits who are also human would awaken the [Hero] class.
But Willis did awaken, and within two years he leveled up nearly twenty times, making him one of the most talented heroes in history.
After awakening, he did not publicize that he was a hero. It was not until recently, when he killed the last of the bandits from that year in the street and was imprisoned, that Willis's identity as a hero was discovered.
"The Avenger" was a derogatory nickname he received among the nobility.
The Earl knew some inside information; Willis probably preferred killing bandits to defeating the Demon King, and he also liked to use entrapment tactics.
"Oh, Willis, what's wrong with you!?"
The count looked at Willis's wound with concern: "I'll immediately summon the best physician in the territory to treat you!"
Willis did not refuse; he nodded, his face apologetic.
"I'm sorry, I encountered robbers on the road. I'll probably have to rest in your territory for a few days."
"It is my honor, Your Excellency the Hero."
