Chapter 32. Humans. Born weak.
Chapter 32. Humans. Born weak.
After a heart-to-heart talk, Qiuhe escorted Yura home. When Qiuhe returned to Mondstadt, he saw a girl wandering around outside.
"Jin, what are you looking for?" Hearing the voice, Jin hurriedly turned around and saw Qiuhe walking in from outside Mondstadt. Jin looked as if a weight had finally been lifted from her heart.
"Qiuhe, where have you been all day? When I woke up, you were no longer with the Knights of Favonius. I searched everywhere in Mondstadt but couldn't find you."
"How are you feeling now? Why are you wandering around like this?" Qiuhe smiled bitterly as he heard the concern and urgency in the girl's voice.
"I'm sorry, Qin, I made you worry. I'm actually all better now, look," Qiuhe said, jumping around excitedly.
Qin breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that you were alright. "Thank goodness you're alright, otherwise I wouldn't know how to explain it to the Grand Master." With that, Qin led Qiuhe back to the Knights of Favonius.
As soon as Qiuhe pushed open the door, he saw the Grand Commander, who was also waiting for him. The Grand Commander greeted him with a smile and said, "It seems your injuries have healed a lot, child."
Qiuhe responded, "Yes, thank you for your concern, Grand Master. I'm fine now, Grand Master, you don't need to worry so much." The Grand Master then glanced at Qin.
Qin had always been good at reading people, and he understood the meaning in the Grand Commander's eyes. He then returned to his room, and the Grand Commander called Qiuhe to his office.
"Child, what you did near the Deer Hunter's Restaurant today..." The Grand Master didn't continue, and Qiuhe assumed the Grand Master was unhappy with his reckless actions that day.
He then firmly stated, "I can apologize for my recklessness today, and I will take full responsibility for it. But Commander, if it happens again, I will do the same thing."
"I cannot stand by and watch an innocent child be trampled on like this. No matter how many times it happens, I will do the same. If anyone has to take responsibility for this, I will face it to the very end, no matter how many times it happens."
The Grand Master nodded slightly in satisfaction, thinking to himself that such noble chivalry was rare to find even if one searched the entirety of Teyvat.
A person possessing such noble courage and the willingness to bear the consequences of every step they take—if they could remain in the Knights, they would be someone who could change the world in the future.
But the Grand Commander himself knew in his heart that the path this child was about to embark on was far from over, and every step this child would take from now on would likely be a step that changed the world.
“My child, I have never blamed you. You did something I wanted to do but dared not. You were brave, righteous, fair, compassionate, and resilient—qualities that are almost perfect, which make you who you are today.”
Akikawa knew in his heart that the Grand Master represented the overthrow of the old Mondstadt by the new Mondstadt, and he understood Yura's pain, but he could not speak out for the descendant of a sinner.
Just like your own blue planet, no matter how high your official position, you cannot forgive the sinners and their descendants on behalf of the dead.
Qiuhe replied with a sorrowful expression, "Thank you for your praise, but I know I can do better. I can't right now. I'm not brave or resilient. I'm afraid to face the consequences of failure. I'm terrified of failure. I'm afraid of losing the people I truly care about."
"I am still very weak right now," the Grand Master gently placed his hand on Qiuhe's head and said softly, "Child, no one is born strong. Eagles will throw their fledglings off cliffs. Only in dire circumstances will fledglings learn to fly."
“You’ve done very well. Actually, I really want you to stay. Your fearless chivalry is something I sincerely hope you can remain with the Knights of Favonius.”
"But I know you have people you need to protect, and they still need you. If you encounter difficulties in the future, you can return to this free country, and we will help you."
Hearing the commander's words, Qiuhe was encouraged. With a determined look in his eyes, he said, "Thank you, Commander, thank you for your recognition. I will definitely lead them out of that cage."
As night fell, Qiuhe stared at the starry sky outside the window, unable to fall asleep. "Truly, it is a sky of illusion, so beautiful it seems unreal," he thought, the sky ablaze with stars, a dazzling spectacle.
This also reminded Qiuhe of his home planet. Compared to this place, Blue Star was truly far inferior. Qiuhe slowly closed his eyes and transferred his consciousness to his own consciousness space.
Du Lin opened his eyes after sensing Qiu He's presence. Looking at Qiu He before him, he revealed a sinister smile. "What, brat? Coming to find me at this hour? Did you miss me?"
Qiuhe ignored the sarcastic remarks the huge monster was making, and simply walked slowly to his side, sitting down gently against Dulin's feet.
"You brat, who gave you the audacity to be so insolent in front of me?" Qiuhe said without showing any expression, only teasingly, "Then, you can eat me."
Dulin slowly turned his head and let out a snort, ignoring Qiuhe. His consciousness space was very quiet, extremely quiet. Qiuhe could only hear Dulin's breathing; nothing else.
"Dulin, what are your thoughts on Barbatos and Tvalin?" Qiuhe asked slowly, but Dulin didn't respond, remaining lying there.
"Actually, you really like them and want to play with them, right?" Dulin remained silent, but Qiuhe knew everything. He knew that because Dulin was a demon dragon, he couldn't distinguish right from wrong.
In his eyes, he was merely playing with those humans, while they were attacking him. When he finally regained consciousness, he willingly allowed himself to be eliminated by Barbatos and Dvalin.
Seeing that Dulin remained silent, Qiuhe stopped pressing the matter and closed her eyes. She had been in Mondstadt for eight days, and for the next six days, Yura Amber had taken her on a tour of the entire city.
They went to Wolf Ridge and the Wind Dragon Ruins, adventuring in many ruins and visiting many beautiful, sacred places. On the day of their parting, Yura still held Qiuhe's hand with lingering reluctance.
"Will you come back to see me?" Qiuhe smiled gently at Yura and promised, "If I have the chance in the future, I will definitely come back." After a reluctant farewell, Qiuhe returned to where he started.
He had been away from the Hearth House for 14 days and had to return today. Looking at the eagle in the tree beside him, Qiuhe released his Void Rift Technique.
The eagle's eyes gradually changed, transforming into human eyes. The eagle slowly spread its wings, soaring into the sky and rapidly flying towards Fontainebleau.
The House of Fireplaces
"Pepe, Leyi has been gone for 14 days now. Do you think something might have happened to him? Why hasn't he come back yet? When will he be back?"
Clementine was in Akikawa's room, leaning against the windowsill, gazing towards Mondstadt, her eyes filled with longing. Peruvée, meanwhile, was beside her, looking at the combat technique book.
This is the fifth book Peruvieri has read. "I've heard that this place is very far from Mondstadt, so it's not surprising that it takes Rai a long time to travel. Clementine doesn't need to worry."
Peruvieri looked at the combat techniques book and comforted Claire, "Yes, Claire, Lei is so strong, he'll be fine. Claire, don't worry, you haven't been sleeping well these past few nights."
“Your eyes are all dark from staying up so late. If Lei comes back and sees this, she’ll be heartbroken,” Lily comforted Clementine, whose gaze remained fixed on Mondstadt.
Claire then suddenly stood up by the window, her eyes resolute. "I'm going to Harbor Harbor to wait for him, so I can see him the moment he returns."
Claire said, running towards the door. "Claire, don't be impulsive! We don't even know when Leigh will be back. Going there won't do any good."
Lily quickly stood up to stop Clévy, and Peruvier also put down her book to step forward and block her. Just as Clévy was about to reach the door...
The door was suddenly pushed open forcefully, and standing in the doorway was Qiuhe, soaked to the bone and panting heavily, looking extremely unwell.
Akikawa forced a smile, looked at Clementine, and slowly said, "Clementine, I'm back."
