Accidentally transported to the beast world: Survive and fight off giant wolves

Chapter 25 Catch the sea

Chapter 25 Catch the sea

After an unknown amount of time, it had become completely dark. Lang Cang dragged a small white lamb from the forest toward their temporary camp.

The giant wolf, dragging a goat's leg, still had a trace of blood on the corner of its mouth, and some bloodstains on its white furry ears. The wolf was completely unaware of this. After placing its prey outside the shed, it squatted down next to Lin Baiyan and unconsciously flapped its ears.

The young man looked at Lang Cang, who was sitting upright next to him, and chuckled. Lang Cang tilted his head in confusion and looked at Lin Baiyan.

Meeting Lang Cang's puzzled black eyes, Lin Baiyan laughed so hard he couldn't straighten up. Just now, he looked just like a well-behaved domestic Samoyed.

It made the young man feel an irresistible urge to reach out and rub his furry ears.

Lin Baiyan chuckled twice, stepped forward, and reached out to Lang Cang.

Lang Cang thought that he had taken a liking to his fluffy fur and wanted to rub it.

For some reason, he felt a little smug about his idea. So he unconsciously sat up straight and looked at Lin Baiyan innocently.

The young man reached straight for Lang Cang's ear, wiped away the trace of blood, and then showed him the blood on his finger.

"Hey, I don't know how you hunted, you got them all over your ears." Lin Baiyan's smile became even more pronounced.

Looking at the blood on Lin Baiyan's hands, Lang Cang felt embarrassed. He had actually thought the young man wanted to touch his fur and had even looked forward to it for a moment. He couldn't help but despise himself in his heart.

"Oh, it probably stuck on by accident."

Wolf Cang quickly transformed back into human form, avoiding looking into the young man's smiling eyes, and quickly changed the subject, "There's a stream in the forest, we can go there to get water, and there aren't any large wild animals nearby, so it's safe for now."

Lin Baiyan nodded, then picked up his basket and looked at Lang Cang expectantly, "It's perfect that you're back, let's go beachcombing together!"

"Catch the sea?"

"We're just looking for food; there's so much delicious food in the sea!"

The young man was craving the seafood feast that was so close to him.

Lang Cang smiled slightly. "Alright, let's go take a look together."

Lin Baiyan walked briskly ahead, while Lang Cang shook his head helplessly, instructing Xiong Fei and Ma Yuan to take care of the bighorn sheep first before following behind.

It was completely dark by then, and the rising moon reflected on the sea like the moon's reflection in the water, casting shimmering, rippling light.

The sea breeze carries a hint of salty seawater and the distinctive odor of rotten seafood.

Once you get to the beach, the further you walk towards the shore, the more seafood you'll see left on the sand.

Lin Baiyan stared with shining eyes at the various kinds of seafood on the beach: jellyfish, octopus, sea bream, shrimp, and seaweed. It was practically a whole seafood market, and it was practically free!

The young man was ecstatic; he had also seen some videos of bloggers going beachcombing online.

When they went beachcombing, they all said that the seafood now is not as good as before. In the past, when they were young, the seafood on the beach could be easily piled up in large quantities, so much so that everyone would pick and choose. A lot of seafood rotted on the beach and smelled bad, and nobody wanted it.

Unlike seafood nowadays, which can easily cost tens, hundreds, or even thousands of yuan per kilogram.

At the time, Lin Baiyan was somewhat skeptical. The beaches had already been developed into tourist attractions, crowded with people, or filled with garbage from seawater pollution. There was no way they were talking about so much free seafood.

Now that the young man has actually stood on such a beach and witnessed the real situation, he finally understands what it means to not even want something given away for free.

"Look, Lang Cang, these are all food, you can eat them!" The young man excitedly ran towards the beach, then, as if remembering something, he came back, took Lang Cang's hand, and ran forward together.

Wolf Cang was caught off guard when the young man grabbed his hand, his heart skipped a beat, and he stared blankly at the hands clasped with the young man's, then ran along with him, following his strength.

Surrounded by a huge pile of seafood, the young man waved a small wooden stick and began picking through it. He even turned back to point at Lang Cang, saying, "This one, this one, and that one are all edible!"

"Oh yeah, that's edible too!"

The young man found there was so much food that he simply said, "Just follow behind me, and pick up whatever I pick up!"

Lang Cang, however, was not used to this place. He reached out and fanned the air in front of his nose. The wolf clan's sense of smell was very keen, and the stench of rotting seafood was quite noticeable here.

Lin Baiyan was taken aback by his actions. "Don't you like it?"

He forgot that some people can't stand the fishy smell of seafood; taste is subjective.

Lang Cang shook his head slightly. "It's nothing, I'm just a little not used to it."

They had even eaten raw meat before, and the beastmen were not very good at cooking, so most of their cooked food had a fishy smell.

"Can this be eaten?" Lang Cang stretched out a wooden stick, picked up a strange-looking hard shell, and tilted his head to look at Lin Baiyan.

The young man looked at the large crab on the wolf-wood stick with surprise. Its belly was so big, and it looked like it had a lot of crab roe!

He nodded like a chick pecking at rice, "I can eat it, I can eat it, this is delicious!"

"Be careful, don't get caught in his leg, it hurts a lot if he does," Lin Baiyan warned.

Lang Cang glanced at the crab in his hand and nodded seriously.

The two of them used sticks to rummage through the seafood along the way, and whenever they saw something fresh, they put it into their baskets. Before long, the baskets were more than half full of seafood.

Lin Baiyan also found a lot of seaweed, shellfish, shrimp, and countless fish. Lang Cang probably liked crabs, as he found seven or eight big crabs in a row!

The young man couldn't stop smiling.

Lin Baiyan looked at the seafood in the basket and felt it was about right. Anyway, they weren't just going to stay at the beach for one day.

He looked up at Lang Cang beside him and said, "Let's go back. I guess Xiong Fei and the others have finished cleaning up and are waiting for us."

On the way back, Lin Baiyan found another huge river clam, more than a meter long and quite thick.

However, the clam meat looked old and probably wouldn't taste very good. The young man circled the clam shell and said, "What do you think about taking it back and using it as a stone pot?"

Wolf Cang didn't care. Seeing how much the young man wanted it, he simply picked up the clam shell and said, "Let's go back and cook."

"Alright!" Lin Baiyan smiled, her eyes crinkling.

Back at the camp, Xiong Fei and Ma Yuan had indeed prepared the mutton. Ma Yuan even followed Lin Baiyan's cooking method, making many cuts on the mutton, coating it with yellow peel juice and salt and pepper, and roasting it.

The young man gave them a thumbs-up in appreciation, saying, "Not bad, you learn very quickly!"

As Xiong Fei turned the wooden stick used for grilling meat, he saw them return and said with a smile, "If you hadn't come back, Ma Yuan would have come looking for you!"
