Chapter 11 Your Excellency... is delicious
Chapter 11 Your Excellency... is delicious
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Ling Yi deliberately walked over and asked.
"Hmm? Yes!" Qi Min turned to look at him and thought for a moment.
"What?" Ling Yi began to roll up the sleeves on his wrists.
"Help me taste the dishes."
Qi Min picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of freshly cooked meat, went over to Ling Yi, and said earnestly,
Ling Yi was stunned, staring at the serious expression on the male insect's face and the food brought to his mouth.
He lowered his eyes and opened his mouth to eat, looking rather awkward.
Subconsciously chewing the food in his mouth, the stimulation of his taste buds instantly interrupted Ling Yi's unease.
"Delicious!" Ling Yi's eyes lit up. Before he could speak, he heard Qi Min ask him.
"How does it taste? Is the saltiness alright?" Qi Min asked Ling Yi with anticipation.
"Mmm, it's delicious, it tastes great," Ling Yi said truthfully this time.
Although Ling Yi had seen the male insect perform the task skillfully, he hadn't actually had high expectations.
Ling Yi's mind was not on today's meal at all.
Ling Yi had already planned that even if the food was terrible, he would still praise it.
But they discovered that the male insect's cooking skills were surprisingly good.
Ling Yi just ate this meat; it must have been from a Red-spined Giant Pig.
This giant pig is extremely large, and it grows hard, red thorns from its head to its neck.
Normally it lies softly against its skin, but once it senses danger, it enters an aggressive state.
The originally soft red thorns will immediately stand up like long spears, extremely hard and unreasonable.
The Red-Spiked Giant Boar is extremely strong; it takes at least three or four B-grade females to capture it.
Ling Yi had eaten the meat of the Red-Spiked Giant Boar before, but none of it had tasted as good as the male worm in front of him.
Looking at the male insect that had received his answer, he smiled, his eyes crinkling with even greater interest.
The food was ready in no time.
"Stir-fried shredded potatoes, garlic chicken wings, braised pork slices, cold shredded chicken salad, and finally, a classic dish perfect with rice: tomato and egg stir-fry!"
Finally, there was 'winter melon and egg soup'. There was just a little egg liquid left in the bowl where I beat the eggs, perfect for making the soup—delicious!
The aroma of the food spread outwards from the dining table, filling the air with a wonderful fragrance that whetted Ling Yi's appetite.
It's a very simple five-dish-and-one-soup meal. Usually, when Qi Min eats alone, he has one dish and one soup, or two dishes.
However, considering Ling Yi's appetite, two more dishes were specially added.
"Alright, you can start eating now," Qi Min said with a smile.
Ling Yi pulled out a chair and sat down. With each bite he took, the expression on his face relaxed a little more.
Qi Min was also hungry, so they didn't chat.
The only sounds at the table were chopsticks picking up food and chewing. No one felt uncomfortable; in fact, the atmosphere was quite warm and cozy.
Ling Yi had excellent table manners and ate at a decent pace without appearing rude.
As if sensing Qi Min's gaze, Ling Yi looked up at Qi Min, slowed down, swallowed the food in his mouth, and asked.
"Is there something on my face?" Ling Yi asked, puzzled.
"No, I just feel happy to see you enjoying your meal."
Qi Min's eyes were filled with joy as he smiled, and he looked genuinely happy.
"Your cooking skills are excellent, and the food is delicious." Ling Yi put down his chopsticks after finishing the last bite.
Seeing that Ling Yi didn't intend to eat anymore, Qi Min quickly finished his meal and got up to clean up.
Ling Yi did not get up to help Qi Min clear the dishes; he simply sat and watched Qi Min's actions quietly, as if waiting for his reaction.
Qi Min was in a good mood and didn't notice anything amiss. Afterwards, he poured two more cups of fruit tea that he had brewed earlier, and then invited Ling Yi to sit down and chat.

"Do you live alone?" Ling Yi asked.
"Yes, I live alone, and I just moved here recently."
Qi Min took a sip of fruit tea and answered in a relaxed manner, without giving it much thought.
"You just moved here? You used to live there, didn't you?" Ling Yi asked with curiosity.
"Before... I'm sorry, I forgot." Qi Min looked up and smiled apologetically at Ling Yi.
"Forgot? What do you mean?" Ling Yi was somewhat surprised by Qi Min's answer.
"Well... I don't remember where I came from. When I woke up, I was already in the hospital."
The day I met you was the day after I was discharged from the hospital. I don't remember many things from before.
Even cooking was something I remembered by chance. My attending physician said that what I have is... post-traumatic amnesia." Qi Min lowered his eyes and said, feigning sadness.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought that up. To be honest, I don't even know your name."
Ling Yi withdrew his probing gaze and asked with amusement.
"Huh? Didn't I tell you?" Qi Min looked at the person opposite him in surprise.
"No, and you didn't ask my name either." Ling Yi's tone was very certain.
'Ugh, I was attracted to his looks, and I even shamelessly added him on social media, but I completely forgot to introduce myself.'
Qi Min frowned and pursed his lips in annoyance, feeling that his mind had become less sharp since he woke up.
"In that case, let's get to know each other again. My name is Ling Yi, and I'm a female soldier. And you are?" Ling Yi spoke first, introducing herself.
"Qi Min, an unemployed person." Qi Min said somewhat embarrassedly.
Compared to Ling Yi, Qi Min felt ashamed to admit that he didn't even have a job.
Ling Yi raised an eyebrow slightly, as if this was the first time he had heard his male insect described in this way.
"Personnel, does that mean insect personnel? That's quite fitting, though, aren't most male insects just idle social creatures?"
Ling Yi opened his lips, about to speak again, when the personal terminal on his wrist suddenly rang. He looked down at it, furrowed his brows and pursed his lips, a hint of melancholy flashing in his eyes, which he quickly concealed.
She looked up and apologized to Qi Min, then walked aside to answer the call.
Ling Yi's expression turned indifferent after he heard what the person on the other end of the call said. The liveliness on his face during the conversation was nowhere to be found.
The call was quick; Ling Yi listened to what the person on the other end was saying throughout the entire process, and only replied once in the end.
"Thank you for your hospitality today. I enjoyed the meal very much. However, some matters suddenly arise that require my attention, so I must take my leave now..."
"Come again next time. When you have time next time, you can send me a message and we can get together again." Qi Min smiled and accepted Ling Yi's unfinished goodbye.
Qi Min noticed that Ling Yi had become cold after finishing the call. Qi Min felt that the atmosphere had been quite nice and didn't want it to end like that.
"Okay, if you have time." Ling Yi stared at Qi Min for a while, then left with a cryptic remark.
The sun had already begun to set, and the sunset was slowly disappearing from the horizon.
Qi Min watched as Ling Yi's car was gradually swallowed by darkness, becoming blurry, and then disappearing around a bend.
