Chapter 35: Wrong person arrested
Chapter 35: Wrong person arrested
Chu Ruohan's gaze lingered for a moment on Chu Nanxin's hand, which was twisting a handkerchief. She knew that Chu Nanxin had come with a purpose, but she was not in a hurry to give an answer.
After a moment, she slowly spoke: "The young master prefers quiet and is not in good health. If you have nothing to do, it would be best if you came less often."
Chu Nanxin's expression changed slightly. She could sense the distance in Chu Ruohan's words, and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
She never expected Chu Ruohan to completely disregard their sisterly bond and refuse outright.
Chu Ruohan, however, did not want to get entangled with her any further and left directly.
Chu Nanxin and her mother, Aunt Fang, always pretended to be weak and innocent, like a pure white lotus flower. But beneath their seemingly delicate appearance, they harbored a black heart.
Her unexplained insistence on going to the Marquis of Anyang's residence suggests she has a plan in mind.
However, Chu Ruohan was right.
When Gu Cheng'an got married, Chu Ruohan specially sent a letter to the Chu family, saying that the young master was unwell and they would not attend the wedding banquet. The Chu family did not need to rush to join in the fun, and sending a gift would be enough.
Unexpectedly, Aunt Fang saw the letter. She had always wanted to secure a bright future for her daughter, so she could no longer restrain herself.
Chu Nanxin dressed up carefully, carrying gifts, and quietly arrived at the Marquis of Anyang's residence. She didn't go to Hongmeng Academy to find Chu Ruohan, but instead began looking for someone at the wedding banquet.
They quickly identified their target: Gu Chengyan, the third young master of the Marquis of Anyang's mansion. If Chu Ruohan could marry into the Marquis's mansion, why couldn't she?
He wanted to use Chu Ruohan to climb to the top, but his plan backfired.
Chu Ruohan did not return directly to the Marquis of Anyang's residence. Instead, she instructed the coachman to drive around the city in a long, winding route until the carriage quietly stopped at a secluded spot behind the Marquis's residence.
"Go ahead, everything as usual, just follow the usual trading procedures," Chu Ruohan whispered to the assistant beside her.
She didn't just bring back ink; she also brought the caravan's workers who were responsible for delivering goods to the Marquis of Anyang's residence.
"Another delivery has arrived?" The servant guarding the back gate of the Marquis's mansion heard the noise and, recognizing a familiar face, greeted him with a teasing smile.
The shop assistant smiled broadly, "Yes, the quantity of goods purchased this time is quite large. Please inform them so we can finish the handover as soon as possible."
The servant replied, "Alright, just a moment, I'll call someone out right away."
After saying that, he turned and hurriedly walked inside.
Chu Ruohan slightly lifted a corner of the car curtain and tightly locked the back door.
More than a quarter of an hour passed before someone finally came to make the transaction. Chu Ruohan looked at that familiar face, a cold glint flashing in her eyes. It was him?
"Take it down," she coldly ordered.
Song Ruyan rushed out in a flash, and before anyone could react, she had already been captured.
"Young Madam?"
Chu Ruohan didn't say a word, but instead led the person back to Hongmeng Academy.
Gu Junze sat on the carved chair, looking at Huai Shu who was bound hand and foot. His already sickly face looked even paler.
"what on earth is it?
Chu Ruohan then recounted the whole story.
Ying Qing stood to the side, her face ashen. Her reddened eyes were filled with anger and heartache.
He strode forward, pointed at Huai Shu, and cursed, "You ungrateful wretch! If it weren't for the kindness of the Princess back then, who picked you up from being a beggar on the street, you would have been a nameless skeleton in a mass grave long ago!"
"The eldest princess left very few people to serve the crown prince, yet you harbored malicious intentions and committed such a treasonous act of betraying your master!"
Huai Shu seemed to be provoked by these words, and suddenly twisted his body, struggling violently, his face full of grievance and innocence.
She shouted hoarsely, "I didn't! How could I betray the Crown Prince? Someone must have framed me and set me up! Yingqing, don't you know me? My loyalty to the Crown Prince is as clear as day!"
Song Ruyan snorted coldly from the side, unable to bear the hypocritical rebuttal any longer, and kicked Huai Shu in the chest.
"They've been caught red-handed, yet they still dare to spout nonsense and stubbornly deny everything!"
"The young mistress personally caught you red-handed at the back door. The evidence is irrefutable. Do you think everyone is blind?"
Song Ruyan exerted tremendous force; how could an ordinary person withstand that?
Huai Shu immediately screamed in agony, but continued to protest his innocence.
"Huai Shu, why are you at the back door?" Gu Junze asked coldly.
Huai Shu, as if grasping at a straw, stiffened his neck and replied urgently, "It was that brat Fu'an who came to me and said that there were things belonging to the young master at the back gate, and asked me to go and get them."
Song Ruyan puffed out her cheeks in anger, took a step forward, and pretended to kick someone again.
"Why didn't you say so earlier? You had to get this beating."
Huai Shu, with a bitter face, timidly shrank to the side and cried out, "Grandma, you were so fierce back then, like a demon that would kill. You came up and pinned me to the ground without saying a word. How could I have a chance to speak?"
Gu Junze's originally cold face now showed an even more solemn expression. He quickly exchanged a glance with Chu Ruohan, and a hint of annoyance flashed in both of their eyes.
Oh no, have we been tricked?
Gu Junze ordered Ying Qing in a deep voice, "Go and arrest Fu'an immediately."
"Yes."
Yingqing went to catch the person, but found nothing; the person had already escaped...
Chu Ruohan bit her lower lip lightly, feeling that something was not right.
It's also her fault for being too careless. This time, Fu'an escaped, and with the clues gone, it will be even more difficult to obtain evidence.
Yu Ling untied Huai Shu. "Hiss..." Huai Shu couldn't help but gasp, his hands frantically rubbing his wrists alternately.
He kept muttering, "That was too brutal. The bones are going to break. My wrist will probably be injured for a long time." His lowered gaze, however, seemed slightly unfocused.
Song Ruyan slammed her fist on the table beside her, making the teacups rattle, and shouted angrily, "You really are a piece of trash! Did the young master raise you just to eat? You managed to let someone run away!"
Ying Qing was already annoyed that he hadn't caught anyone, and now Song Ruyan's provocation made him even more frustrated, with the veins on his neck bulging.
"you……"
He was about to retort when Song Ruyan's arrogant shout cut him off: "What do you mean, 'what ...' if you're not convinced, let's go outside and fight right now!'"
Song Ruyan crossed her arms, raised her chin, and her eyes were full of provocation and disdain. It was clear that she wanted to take this opportunity to settle old scores with Ying Qing.
Last time, after smashing up Gu Junze's study, no clear winner was decided, so he always wanted to find an opportunity to compete with Ying Qing.
"Song Ruyan, don't think I don't hit women."
"Hey, come on!" Song Ruyan kicked Ying Qing, who dodged to the side and grabbed her wrist with a grappling move. The two instantly started fighting.
"Stop it, all of you!" Gu Junze's eyes were filled with suppressed anger.
Since the prince had spoken, Yingqing naturally wouldn't fight her anymore. Song Ruyan pouted unwillingly, knowing she could only try again another time.
