Chapter 254 A Trap Targeting Him
Chapter 254 A Trap Targeting Him
"Is your foot feeling better?" He asked gently, as if they were just an ordinary couple, not a prisoner and the imprisoned.
Chu Ruohan looked at him coldly without answering.
Gu Chengyan seemed unconcerned by her coldness, placing the tray on the table. "I brought you some food; you must be hungry."
"I'm not hungry," Chu Ruohan said coldly.
Gu Chengyan chuckled, "You don't have to eat, but I won't let you starve to death."
He sat down on the edge of the bed, just an arm's length away from Chu Ruohan.
"What exactly do you want?" she finally couldn't help but ask.
Gu Chengyan looked at her, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes, "I just want you."
"Gu Chengyan, you're disgusting." Chu Ruohan sneered. "Gu Junze won't let you get away with this."
A hint of hurt flashed in Gu Chengyan's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He stood up and straightened his robes.
“He can’t find this place,” Gu Chengyan said confidently. “This villa is very secluded; no one but me knows its exact location.”
Chu Ruohan's heart sank, but she remained calm on the surface. "Do you think you can win my heart by imprisoning me?"
"Time will change everything." Gu Chengyan's voice was deep and firm. "One day, you will get used to living with me."
Chu Ruohan looked at him and suddenly laughed, "You're pathetic."
Gu Chengyan's eyes turned dangerous. He reached out to touch Chu Ruohan's face, but she shoved his hand away.
"Don't touch me!" Chu Ruohan said sharply.
Gu Chengyan's hand froze in mid-air, a hint of hurt flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
“Okay, I won’t touch you.” He lifted his leg and walked towards the door. “But you’d better eat something to keep your strength up. Tomorrow I’ll take you on a tour of the whole estate so you can get familiar with your future home.”
After saying that, he turned and left, closing the door behind him.
Chu Ruohan heard the sound of the door being locked and felt that something was not right.
Why does Gu Chengyan want to take her around?
On second thought, it's still better than being trapped in this room all day.
She walked to the window and looked out at the pitch-black night.
"Junze..." she whispered, tears welling in her eyes.
Even with a forced march, a journey of forty li (approximately 20 kilometers) would still take several hours.
As dawn broke, they finally arrived at the woods near Songlin Villa.
"Your Highness, Pine Forest Manor is just ahead," Ying Qing reported in a low voice, her eyes filled with vigilance. "We should proceed with caution."
Gu Junze nodded and ordered, "Shadow Five and Shadow Six, you two go and scout out the situation first. The rest of you stay put."
The two shadow guards obeyed the order and disappeared into the forest as swiftly as ghosts.
Before long, Shadow Five returned and reported: "Your Highness, the manor is heavily guarded, with at least thirty highly skilled guards patrolling. There is a brightly lit house deep in the courtyard, which may be where the young mistress is being held."
Gu Junze immediately gave the order to rescue the people.
However, the moment he stepped into the villa, his keen intuition told him that something was wrong.
An eerie silence filled the air, and the surrounding trees swayed gently in the breeze, making a rustling sound.
Gu Junze's eyes instantly became alert. He signaled the shadow guards behind him to stay on guard, and he quietly tightened his grip on his sword.
Suddenly, a sharp whistle shattered the morning tranquility.
Immediately afterwards, a group of men in black emerged from all directions. They held sharp blades, their eyes cold, and surrounded Gu Junze and his group.
Gu Junze's heart sank; he realized he had fallen into an ambush.
The patrolling guards that Shadow Five and Shadow Six saw were deliberately putting on an act for them.
Chu Ruohan is not here, nor is Gu Chengyan.
All of this was a trap carefully set by Gu Chengyan, with the aim of luring Gu Junze here and then killing him.
"Gu Chengyan, what exactly does he want to do?" Gu Chengan roared angrily, his voice echoing through the valley.
However, all that answered him was the black-clad man's cold laughter and the sound of clashing swords.
The battle erupted instantly, and the Shadow Guards quickly formed a circle, protecting Gu Junze and Gu Cheng'an in the middle.
They were all elites who had followed Gu Junze for many years, each with exceptional skills, and they showed no fear in the face of the enemy's siege.
Gu Junze brandished his sword, each swing carrying a fierce momentum, and blood splattered beneath his blade.
However, the enemy was too numerous and well-trained, and they gradually found themselves in a difficult situation.
Just then, a series of crackling sounds suddenly came from afar.
Gu Junze turned his head and saw that the raging fire was spreading rapidly. It turned out that Gu Chengyan had started the wildfire in a heartless manner.
The fire grew larger and larger, and the blazing flames and thick smoke quickly spread, engulfing the entire manor in flames.
Going up the mountain is easy, but coming down is difficult, especially now that there are raging fires everywhere.
The scorching heat made people's skin burn, and the thick smoke made it almost impossible to breathe.
"Despicable scoundrel!" Gu Junze cursed angrily.
Gu Chengyan knew that as long as the shadow guards were there, they couldn't kill him, so he went through all this trouble because his real purpose was to burn him alive.
Gu Junze knew that if things continued like this, everyone would perish in the flames.
He fought desperately against the enemy's attacks while searching for an opportunity to break through.
The shadow guards followed Gu Junze closely, fighting their way through thorns and brambles, trying to carve a bloody path through the enemy lines.
However, the enemy's encirclement was as solid as an iron barrel, and every attempt to break through was met with fierce resistance.
In the chaos, Gu Cheng'an tripped and fell, attracting the attention of a man in black. The man in black, his face contorted with rage, raised his knife and lunged at Gu Cheng'an.
"Watch out!" Gu Junze shouted quickly and rushed over, using his sword to block the attack from the man in black.
However, his arm was also slashed by the enemy's blade, and blood flowed down his arm.
Gu Cheng'an looked at the scene before him in horror, his heart filled with gratitude and guilt.
"Big brother, you're injured!" Gu Cheng'an shouted.
"Stop talking nonsense and break through!" Gu Junze said through gritted teeth.
The group continued to fight fiercely, and finally, with the desperate cover of the shadow guards, they broke through the enemy's encirclement and headed down the mountain.
However, the wildfires have blocked their escape route, forcing them to find other ways out.
The mountain road was rugged, and the thick smoke obstructed visibility, making their journey extremely difficult.
Shadow Eight pointed into the distance: "Your Highness, there's a small path over there that might lead to safety!"
The group quickly ran towards the path, but just as they were about to arrive, a huge burning tree crashed down, blocking their way.
"Young Master, I'll clear the way!" Shadow Eight shouted, ignoring everyone's attempts to stop him, and rushed towards the burning tree.
