Chapter 55 Peach Blossom, You Idiot!
Chapter 55 Peach Blossom, You Idiot!
The new year began, and everything remained the same, yet there were some differences. Song Che finally woke up earlier than Xia Li. After brushing his teeth, he saw Xia Li with messy silver hair, looking like she hadn't woken up yet. Since arriving here, His Highness's dignity has almost been completely lost.
"Didn't sleep well last night?"
"Um."
"Go wash up."
After Song Che finished speaking, he took out a disposable toothbrush and woke Tao Xiang up, "Get up, brush your teeth, wash your face, and eat."
Song Che went to the kitchen and cooked some porridge.
When they came out, they found Tao Xiang clinging to Xia Li. Xia Li had a cold expression, which frustrated Tao Xiang. However, Xia Li was like that to everyone, and her facial expressions were a major flaw.
The two girls brushed their teeth silently in front of the mirror.
Song Che took out his book as usual and checked his phone messages.
I reckon I'll be called into the office again today when the results come out.
He had already anticipated the wrath of the other teachers; even the Chinese teacher couldn't protect him. However, there were no messages on his phone, so he guessed they were thinking of ways to kill him.
This whole thing is really frustrating.
He doesn't do well on tests, he can't tell the truth, and saying anything else is useless... In the eyes of his teachers, he is now a typical bad kid who only talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk, and he just lazes around at home.
Song Che slumped over the table, feeling utterly exhausted.
Let's just hang in there and wait until the end of this semester.
Having experienced so much, there's really nothing that can trouble him anymore, but this one thing that worries his parents is something he can't put his mind at ease no matter how old he gets. After the teacher embellished the story, they discovered that his family had a girlfriend who was a bottomless pit, a child from an orphanage, and a cat that could bark like a dog...
Is this reasonable?
What decent person would encounter something like this!
Song Che pondered how to come up with a more plausible story for Xia Li's identity. Many people went missing during the flood, and the fact that she was in an orphanage... seemed rather useless. To truly resolve her identity, they would have to wait a year or two and let Xia Li live there for a while longer. The issue of identity... could easily become incredibly troublesome if not handled carefully.
His brows were almost furrowed together, unaware that a girl had been staring at him for a long time.
"When Mom and Dad come back... will they kick me out?" Xia Li suddenly asked.
"No." Song Che turned his head, paused, and said, "Just call them uncle and aunt first."
"I see everyone here has black hair. People with other hair colors will be mistaken for foreigners or shady people..." Xia Li said, half-pinching her silver hair up and biting a hair tie. "I can dye my hair black, or leave here and support myself."
"Don't worry, silver hair looks great. As for leaving here... we'll talk about that when you run out of money."
"Are there still any ways to make money through performances?"
"There's only this one right now." Song Che turned off his phone, opened the book, and said, "Don't worry about making money. If all else fails, I'll ask Old Deng to make some gold coins. Once I get to college, there will be plenty of part-time job opportunities... and with Bruce around, he's a lucky charm."
"Woof woof!" Bruce nuzzled against him.
"It's just that the sound is a little strange," Song Che smiled. "But it's very cute, isn't it?"
...I don't understand what cuteness is.
"So, who's cuter, me or Bruce?" Xia Li asked abruptly. "You said I was cuter last time too."
You are adorable, Your Highness is the most adorable.
"Why didn't you say so?"
Song Che looked at Bruce, then at Xia Li, wondering what to do. Bruce wasn't an ordinary cat; it could understand human speech, while Xia Li sometimes couldn't.
He sighed helplessly, "Xia Li is adorable."
Xia Li didn't know what the point of being cuter would be, but she just wanted Song Che to admit... she was cuter, and besides, the cat seemed to be provoking her—
Bruce snored lazily, snuggling into Song Che's arms. It glanced at Xia Li, as if to say, "[I can rub against my master, can you?]"
Xia Li turned her face away and went back to her bedroom to read.
...How could such a thing be possible?
Why do cats sometimes act inappropriately?
In reality, Bruce, the cat in question, was simply being affectionate and cute. Unlike some easily angered princes who are jealous and unaware of their own feelings, Bruce is very sensible. Whether he's cute or not is not as important as snuggling up to his owner.
Of course, the dog... doesn't like its owner, it just wants to rub against its owner.
Song Che was studying nearby, while it lay down on its lap to sleep. But Song Che couldn't concentrate on its studies today, feeling like there were still some things left undone.
"...Song Che".
Xia Li's voice came from the kitchen.
"Hmm." Song Che immediately realized, "The porridge, is the porridge burnt... no, a rice cooker shouldn't burn the porridge."
He felt like he was being startled.
Xia Li brought out a bowl, ladled a bowl of porridge for him, then wiped her hands and brought out two more bowls to sit opposite him, sipping her own porridge.
Song Che shook his head, realizing he'd forgotten something, and casually reminded her, "Xia Li, if Mom and Dad come back, just stay the way you are, act a little silly, no need to force a smile... um, be polite, and remember to keep your story consistent. My mom's a nice person, she shouldn't give you any trouble..."
"Yes, I will be mindful of my manners."
Tao Xiang also finished washing up and came out. She was overjoyed to see that she could actually sit at the table to eat. Her previous life as a homeless person was really tough. She wished she had relied on Song Che earlier.
She's very motivated now. Although she can't do anything except eat, she wants to share half of the mice her older sister catches in the future!
dong dong dong-
A knock sounded at the door, and Song Che got up in confusion, about to open it.
"I'll go open it!" Tao Xiang said excitedly, skipping over to open the door.
She tiptoed to reach the doorknob, looking a little clumsy.
A gentle voice came from behind the door, "Little girl... who are you...?"
"Hello, Auntie!"
"Excuse me, does Song Che still live here...?"
"Aunt Lan, I'll still stay here." Song Che hurriedly got up, only then remembering that his mother said Aunt Lan would be back next month, but it was a bit early to be back on the 1st.
He wasn't ready to explain Xia Li and Tao Xiang yet.
When Aunt Lan saw Song Che, she immediately smiled and said, "Song Che, Aunt Lan just came to see you. Your mother asked me to talk to you about something. Have you been unhappy lately?"
Aunt Lan turned to the side, behind her were a box of milk, peanuts and melon seeds, a bag of cooked beef and several trays of eggs.
"Your mom said I didn't need to bring you anything, but your aunt felt bad, so she just bought a little something..."
"Auntie, come in and sit down." Song Che didn't stand on ceremony. He picked up his things and gestured for Tao Xiang to bring the beef inside. "Auntie, please sit down first. I'll get some porridge."
"Okay, sure."
Song Che glanced back at Aunt Lan's head, where several weathered labels stood.
Memory decline; Yang energy depletion
Self-blame. Self-blame. Self-blame.
Ok?
Song Che was suddenly stunned by the labels that appeared. Aunt Lan had... so many extra labels.
Unsure of the situation, he could only serve the porridge first and then check on Aunt Lan.
After serving the porridge and placing it on the table, Aunt Lan held Xia Li's hand, looking at it repeatedly, and then stroked Xia Li's head, nagging over and over again, "You've grown so tall...you should have grown this tall by now, girl, how old are you?"
Eighteen years old.
"Oh, you're eighteen, and you're good-looking... Miss... are you Song Che's friend?"
"I am Song Che's girlfriend."
"A girlfriend is a good thing, a good thing... just don't let it interfere with your studies." Aunt Lan's eyes curved into a smile. She knew about this. Song Che's mother had been nagging her child about dating too early and becoming too independent.
She turned to look at Tao Xiang, "This child is..."
...Why is there another child?
Tao Xiang glanced at the situation and immediately understood. She spoke, and Song Che spoke almost at the same time.
"My name is Song Xiang, and I am my parents' daughter."
"She is Xia Li's younger sister."
Song Che's bowl trembled and almost fell to the ground.
Damn it, Peach Fragrance, thank you for changing your surname, but you've given yourself away.
—Who the hell has a twelve-year-old daughter!
Xia Li: (๑ŏ﹏ŏ๑)
...Peach Blossom doesn't seem to be proper either.
Aunt Lan was taken aback.
Song Che had a puppy love... and they already have a child?
