Chapter 95 Sparring with Anna
Yuri glanced down at it: "What do you mean?"
Lu Ye said, "Equipment money."
Yuri didn't take it immediately, frowning as he said, "Keep it for yourself. I'm not in a hurry to use the money."
Lu Ye looked at him: "I know. But I don't like owing money."
Yuri paused for a moment, then picked up the card and put it in his pocket.
"Alright, then I won't stand on ceremony."
Ruslan said, "That's more like it. Lu has money now."
Roman: "And I just spent a lot of money."
The group drank for a while longer, then playfully wrestled their way back to the hospital.
Ruslan continued to explain along the way that he wasn't incapable.
Yuri mocked them all the way, while Roman and Artyom added fuel to the fire.
Eugene was responsible for providing "theoretical summaries" of their nonsense.
Lu Ye walked beside him, occasionally replying with a word.
When Lu Ye arrived at the hospital entrance, he suddenly saw a familiar figure.
Vasily stood at the entrance of the building.
Upon seeing Lu Ye, he immediately walked over.
"land."
Yuri's expression changed immediately upon seeing him: "Oh, Vasily's here again?"
Ruslan chuckled, "Does Commander Anna have another message to deliver?"
Roman immediately leaned closer: "Lu, hurry up, don't keep the commander waiting."
Artyom: "You've just finished learning and now you have to meet your female superior. Lu, your schedule is really packed."
Eugene: "The schedule is indeed tight."
Lu Ye looked at Vasily: "What is it?"
Vasily said, "Commander Anna is looking for you."
"See!" Yuri clapped his hands. "I knew it!"
Ruslan: "The commander summoned me personally."
Roman: "The extraordinary battlefield relationship continues to develop."
Artyom: "Lu, remember to come back and write the second battle report."
Lu Ye took a deep breath: "Shut up."
Yuri smiled and waved his hand: "Go ahead, go ahead."
Lu Ye followed Vasily out of the hospital and headed towards the command center.
After walking for a while, Lu Ye noticed that Vasily hadn't said a word.
He slowed his pace slightly: "Is there something you need?"
Vasily glanced at him: "No."
Lu Ye: "Your words are written all over your face, and you still say you don't."
Vasily didn't speak, took a few more steps, and then suddenly stopped.
"Lu, I suggest you refuse this mission."
Lu Ye frowned: "You know the details of the mission?"
Vasily shook his head: "I don't know."
"Then why did you make me refuse?"
Vasily whispered, "All I know is that this mission is dangerous."
"Which mission isn't dangerous?"
Vasily gritted his teeth and said, "This is no ordinary danger."
Vasily clenched his fist, then relaxed it.
"Lu, I have a question for you."
"ask.
"
"Could you be a spy sent by the Ukrainian army?"
Lu Ye paused for a moment, then burst out laughing: "Do I look like it?"
"I believe you."
Lu Ye looked at him, and the smile on his face slowly faded.
"You believe me, but your superior doesn't, right?"
"Anna?"
Vasily nodded.
Lu Ye continued, "That's why this mission came about."
Vasily pursed his lips: "At first I thought she was trying to give you a chance."
Lu Ye glanced at him: "And then you realized it wasn't true?"
Vasily looked a little embarrassed and scratched his head.
"Perhaps—but not entirely."
Lu Ye already understood.
His performance that night was excessive; it didn't seem like that of a mercenary who had just come out of a cannon fodder camp.
It's normal for Anna to suspect him.
What really bothered him was that Vasily had actually reminded him in advance, which meant that loyalty was more important than he had imagined.
And where did Vasily get the information? Wasn't it from Anna?
Lu Ye sneered inwardly: She wasn't just testing my background, she was also testing Vasily's loyalty.
Lu Ye looked at Vasily.
Vasily said in a low voice, "Lu, if you don't want to take it, I can find a way."
Lu Ye shook his head: "No need."
Vasily frowned: "Are you sure?"
"I need a mission."
"For money?"
Lu Ye nodded and said, "That counts."
More precisely, it's for the sake of points, for the sake of lifespan.
Lu Ye patted Vasily on the shoulder: "Don't worry."
Vasily looked at him: "Aren't you angry?"
Lu Ye said, "It's normal for her to suspect me."
"Then why are you still going?"
Lu Ye said calmly, "Since she wants to try, I'll let her try."
Vasily paused for half a second: "You're really not a normal person."
Lu Ye: "You're only realizing this now?"
Vasily gave a wry smile: "Let's go."
Vasily led Lu Ye into the command center on the second basement level and pushed open a door with a sign that read "Training Room".
In the training room, Anna, dressed in her training uniform, was hitting a sandbag.
Seeing Lu Ye enter, she stopped what she was doing and took off her gloves: "You're here."
Lu Ye looked at her: "What do you want?"
Anna pointed to the training mat: "Come on up, let's have a match."
Lu Ye said directly, "Not interested."
Anna: "Afraid of losing?"
Lu Ye: "I just got back from a mission, and then I was dragged out and messed around all morning. I don't want to play with you right now."

Vasily stood to the side, looking somewhat embarrassed.
Anna looked at Lu Ye: "I can let you use the base's satellite phone to make a call to your family in China."
Lu Ye's eyes narrowed sharply as he stared at Anna: "How did you know?"
Anna said calmly, "Don't forget what I do."
Lu Ye didn't speak, his fingers tightening slightly: this had struck the deepest part of his heart.
Anna looked at him: "You can talk for three minutes."
Lu Ye gritted his teeth: "Just a friendly spar?"
Anna: "It's just a friendly sparring match."
Lu Ye took off his coat and stepped onto the training mat.
Vasily stood to the side and whispered, "Land, control point."
Lu Ye ignored him.
Anna assumed a fighting stance: "Begin."
Lu Ye did not launch a preemptive attack. He knew his weaknesses: stamina and strength were his shortcomings.
His Basic Combat LV2 skill allowed him to master basic techniques such as military boxing, grappling, and knife fighting, but Anna had clearly received systematic training and was physically stronger than him.
Anna stepped closer, feinted with her left hand, and swept her right leg low.
Lu Ye took half a step back and raised his leg to block.
Just as he blocked it, Anna's right fist was already aimed at his jaw.
Lu Ye turned his head to avoid her, and grabbed her wrist with his left hand, preparing to counter-attack.
Anna's wrist sank, slipping directly from his palm, her shoulder thrusting in, and her elbow pressing down on his chest.
Lu Ye took a step back.
Anna didn't stop, pressing forward continuously.
Straight punch. Hook punch. Low kick. Knee strike feint.
Lu Ye was able to block at first with his reflexes, but he soon realized that she had taken over the rhythm.
The skills the system gave him were not for arena combat.
Short, ruthless, and fast are the main characteristics of close-range attacks, but sparring should not be done to the point of killing.
This prevented him from using many of his movements.
Anna seized the opportunity and swept her right leg towards Lu Ye's supporting leg.
Lu Ye was about to retreat when Anna closed in and threw him onto the mat with a shoulder throw.
"Bang." Lu Ye's back slammed to the ground.
Anna didn't pursue, but took a step back: "Your stamina is indeed lacking."
Lu Ye sat up, his face a little cold.
Anna continued, "Your basic fighting skills are just average. Your reflexes are good, but your movements are too direct."
Lu Ye stood up: "Are you finished?"
Anna looked him in the eyes and said, slowly and deliberately, "If this is all you're capable of, then my promise is null and void."
