Chapter 506 - 334: Award Ceremony (Part 2)
"Not bad, Sister Shang moved quite quickly."
Li Peifeng nodded knowingly: "How much did it cost?"
"We’re different as artists, we get discounts, and the company subsidizes us. The actual cost might be less than tipping a Silver Guild to you."
Guli Nazha waved her hand and then pointed to the eighth trending topic on the screen: "But I didn’t spend money on this one; it probably went up on its own, thanks to my fifth post."
Li Peifeng sighed: "The power of a good appearance is terrifying!!"
He was always aware of how impactful his looks were. Once the ’image ambassador’ aura was activated, even when captured by a camera and transmitted onto a screen, it had an effect. The ’voice of resonance’ was similar, although the amplification was halved, which led to people who’d seen him in person claiming Li Peifeng wasn’t photogenic.
But even then, he was undeniably good-looking, surpassing benchmark levels of handsomeness. With his outstanding physique, he could easily overshadow this group of male celebrities on site.
"Maybe only when young, guys like Yan Zu, Tian Le, Yan Kuan, and Eun Jun tie together can I feel slightly threatened."
Guli Nazha glanced at him: "It’s fine to be narcissistic internally; no need to say it out loud."
Li Peifeng raised an eyebrow: "Is my handsomeness scaring you?"
Guli Nazha rolled her eyes slightly: "You’re so handsome that it’s making me feel a bit nauseous."
Li Peifeng’s gaze returned to his phone, shaking his head as he chatted with several girls: "But some things aren’t about being handsome."
The online discussions didn’t affect their conversation and certainly didn’t hinder the ongoing ceremony. After the opening song, two hosts appeared, delivering the opening remarks in a calm yet humorous manner.
"Hello everyone, welcome to the Endpoint Group Super IP Storm Ceremony and the Fifth Annual Dong Original Literature Storm List Ceremony. I am host He Lei."
"I am host Si Wen..."
Li Peifeng didn’t listen, continuing to chat on his phone with several girls.
The theme of this annual event was clear from its name — an award ceremony. The programs were just embellishments, awarding both Endpoint Group’s authors and the attending celebrities.
In previous events, the awards given to both groups were usually equal, but this time it leaned more towards web fiction authors, reducing the awards for actors while creating many new categories for authors as encouragement.
Many of the invited big names — screenwriters, traditional authors, or directors — primarily attended to present awards to web fiction authors.
So after the hosts warmed up the audience, the main event quickly began.
"Now let’s invite author from the Su family and actor Liu Haoran to reveal the Storm Potential Young Writer. They’ll surely shine and have a promising future."
"Please welcome the two recommenders."
Below the stage, the Su family and Liu Haoran exchanged smiles and together approached the stage. After some casual chatting, they announced the winner, followed by the next segment.
Half an hour passed, with five or six awards presented, some for authors and others for actors. Meanwhile, Guli Nazha and Li Peifeng prepared to go on stage.
The former was first to take the stage; she would sing a song, then join Li Peifeng as recommenders to present a Super Quality Actor Award to a female actress named Zhong Chuxi.
Minutes before Guli Nazha went on stage, while seated, she visibly became a bit anxious and less composed.
Li Peifeng curiously asked: "What are you afraid of? I remember you aren’t lip-syncing this time, right?"
Guli Nazha frowned: "Even if my lip-sync is off, it’s embarrassing."
Li Peifeng said ’oh’ and comforted with warmth: "It’s okay, everyone understands — you’re not a singer, even if people discover the lip-syncing, they won’t mind, and your most embarrassing moment is already behind you."
"My most embarrassing...? What do you mean?"
Guli Nazha initially seemed puzzled but soon recalled her fear during a 2019 awards ceremony in a small country as a host. Her face instantly flushed: "You know about it?"
"It’s known throughout the internet."
Li Peifeng laughed: "Back in your debut when you became a hit, you were invited by South Korea’s superstars to perform excerpts from an opera, and who wouldn’t know? Plus, the world’s devastating high note — it left me unforgettable. By the way, it’s quite a coincidence, that time you also reached the top three trending spots without even waiting for the ceremony to end, but I assume you didn’t spend any money on that one too?"
"Shut your mouth!!"
Guli Nazha bit her lip, angrily yet adorably.
Li Peifeng obediently closed his mouth but silently opened Douyin, finding a video with sound at a mild volume, while hosts on stage were speaking, yet Guli Nazha still heard her infamous moment through the earpiece.
"Tuan ting nai ting... qiong ha!!"
Qiong ha~
Qiong ha~~
Guli Nazha clenched her teeth, her eyes filled with anger, but given the event’s live broadcast, where cameras might capture her anytime, she relied on her strong professional demeanor, quickly regaining composure, feigned calmness: "So what?"
"Yeah, so what?"
Li Peifeng quipped: "You were so awkward back then, the event’s heat lingered long, and it was edited into multiple parody videos shared across major video platforms. People laughed and moved on. Even now, if your lip-syncing is exposed, what then?"
"..."
"Even as a celebrity, your life doesn’t have that many audiences, relax."
Guli Nazha huffed: "Is that how you usually comfort people? No wonder you can never cheer up your girlfriends!"
Regardless of any issues with Li Peifeng’s comforting method, it effectively reduced tension for him, and Guli Nazha no longer sat uneasy.
