Chapter 1150 - 886: Calm (Part 2)
On the day her grandmother came out, she used the old method, insisting on clearing away their bad luck, and the whole family breathed a sigh of relief, especially Mom and her second aunt, who turned red-eyed.But everyone knows this was a baseless accusation, all orchestrated by the Wang Family.
And that Wang Qianjin, having provoked the Lin Family, surely won’t have a good ending. As a result, the day after the second uncle came out, Wang Qianjin was subjected to a late-night investigation.
Without them needing to produce the recording, a few words from the second uncle scared him into confessing directly.
He honestly confessed that it was people from the Wang Family who gave him a batch of money, asking him to falsely accuse the Lin Family. He too was blinded by the money.
Since he said so, the Wang Family couldn’t escape responsibility, but they kept denying it. In the end, an anonymous tape was sent somehow, and as soon as the voice emerged, they couldn’t deny it.
Of course, no one investigated the source of the tape; it was clear someone wanted to target the Wang Family. Even if they guessed the Lin Family did it, no one would investigate any further. For more than a year, the Wang and Lin families have been battling each other openly and secretly, and many people are aware, remaining in a state of observation as it doesn’t affect them who wins or loses.
However, over the years, everyone knows that the Wang Family’s frequent deceitful actions will eventually lead to trouble.
Yet they still foolishly targeted the Lin Family, without considering how solidly rooted they are in both military and political circles. The eldest son contributed significantly to the country and didn’t contact his family for over a decade. He is indeed an able man, currently achieving good results in the military. Over the years, the younger Lin managed Z City admirably, and in a nationwide evaluation, if not first or second, being among the top few is not improbable. Furthermore, they never committed any undue actions; they are untouchable, unlike the unclean Wang Family.
He did bring down one of their grandsons earlier, but it was part of their tactical retreat, as the grandson wanted to step back. This grandson is now thriving in the business world, achieving remarkable results over the past year or so, ensuring the Lin Family’s influence across the military, government, and commerce.
Now, people are eager to curry favor; whoever dares to plot behind their backs, the Wang Family’s actions have led to their downfall.
Also, Wang Qianjin, with his corrupt dealings, is enough for several years in prison. But the Wang Family won’t spare him either; it’s best that he doesn’t come out.
Still, having said they would help Zhang Dandan resolve this, they couldn’t go back on their word, and Dad had to go over. That day, Dad wore his military uniform and went through the green channel to meet Wang Qianjin.
Although Lin Wan and the others didn’t know what Dad said to him, the gist was that although Zhang Dandan made many mistakes, disappointing the family, she still remains their relative. She cannot be bullied by him; from now on, she’s no longer connected to him, and after his release, there’ll be no further ties.
Of course, if he harbors any resentment or plans for revenge, they would immediately bring Wang Qianjin back in.
Wang Qianjin is someone who bullies the weak and fears the strong. Seeing that Zhang Dandan’s uncle isn’t easy to provoke, he immediately backed down, nodding repeatedly, abandoning any thought of living well with Zhang Dandan.
He regrets now, knowing the Lin Family isn’t as heartless as he assumed, and realizes he was tricked by Zhang Dandan’s act.
Now, it’s too late to say anything.
After this matter settled, Lin Wan found Zhang Dandan a small storefront with a good location, right in the mall’s food street. The area has high foot traffic, and it’s just starting to attract investors. She chose a good spot and paid three months’ rent for Zhang Dandan.
Zhang Dandan was taken by Mom, learning for a few days, and also spent some time at their hotpot restaurant’s fried chicken counter, getting familiar with the process before starting out. She also informed Zhang Dandan of the chicken suppliers and helped install a phone in her shop.
A nearby house was rented temporarily for her; of course, she didn’t cover the rent payments. Zhang Dandan has saved quite a lot after being with Wang Qianjin for these years.
What they promised has been fulfilled: the shop’s rent, renovation, and telephone amounted to over ten thousand yuan.
The shop is in the prime location, the craftsmanship is top-notch, and now it’s up to Zhang Dandan to perform well.
"Everything’s arranged, right?" Liang Hongmei asked Lin Wan upon her return.
"Everything’s arranged. Today, it’s open for business; I was there this morning watching. Once things are ready, she can handle it alone." The fried chicken shop offers quick service, not requiring many employees.
These days, she’s been overseeing things with Zhang Dandan but feeling quite aggrieved. She didn’t want to manage, yet she couldn’t not.
After arranging Zhang Dandan’s matters, she had to call home; she didn’t want to involve Liang Weixiang, as that would only add more trouble. Instead, she decided to call her eldest brother.
At least they should know that Zhang Dandan is now in Z City, starting her own business.
As the weather turned into March-April, with new spring clothing on rotation, Lin Wan began focusing again on her own affairs.
Meanwhile, Wang Leqin finished her postpartum period, giving birth to a chubby boy for Yang Wei. This time, Yang Wei invested his whole attention, doing everything personally, not even allowing Wang Leqin’s mom to assist much.
Her family knew Yang Wei once had a child, and they were aware of how this previous child died, so they understood his current behavior.
Wang Leqin’s postpartum period was comfortable; she didn’t have to worry about the child, nurtured comfortably by her mom and Yang Wei.
For fear of gaining weight, she followed Lin Wan’s advice, eating small frequent meals and drinking more soups during the postpartum period, so she didn’t gain much weight.
