Chapter 1028 - 1025: Living Together (Part 1)

"Alexander Kingsley, come downstairs for breakfast." She said, "Later you need to change the bandage."Breakfast, did she make it!

Alexander Kingsley frowned, glancing at her with puzzlement for two seconds before looking away, as if he couldn’t quite believe the scene in front of him. When had the once unruly rascal transformed into someone so considerate?

"Let’s go." Since he was injured, she planned to interact with him nicely; after all, it was her fault back then. A mistake is a mistake, no need for explanation. "Alexander Kingsley, I personally made this breakfast for you."

She cooked a bone broth, fried some heart-shaped eggs, made scallion pancakes, and there was also pasta.

"..." Alexander Kingsley looked at her in astonishment. Was this an illusion? Waking up, she actually knew how to cook? Moreover, her attitude towards him had dramatically improved.

"What’s wrong with you? Are you sick?"

Alexander Kingsley reached out and touched Carla Carr’s forehead. Not hot, no fever!

But without a fever, why did her mind suddenly change so quickly, and her attitude shifted three hundred and sixty degrees?

"Not sick." She replied.

He heard her, frowned slightly, and stopped talking, just following her downstairs, seemingly in a rare good mood.

In the villa, Deputy Li and the maid both retreated. The maid originally intended to make breakfast in the morning but saw Carla Carr coming downstairs, offering to prepare breakfast herself, so the maid said nothing and backed out.

At the dining table.

Alexander Kingsley did not speak.

Though still fond of her, he kept his distance. Yes, their closest interaction this time was just a hug.

"Alexander Kingsley, can I go find Eva?" The implication was, after the incident years ago, everyone said she died, disappeared for three years, impossible to find her, who wouldn’t be anxious!

She assumed Alexander Kingsley knew somewhat about the events back then.

"You surely know her..."

Alexander Kingsley was momentarily stunned, putting down his bowl and chopsticks, looking at her: "I don’t know." After a few seconds, he added, "Perhaps, you should try to forget those things."

Wasn’t he clear enough?

She wasn’t foolish; she believed she understood his meaning.

Carla Carr certainly understood, nodded, feeling heartache inside. Alexander Kingsley’s message was crystal clear, and Carla Carr understood: "I got it. I will try to forget...forget it."

That night Annabelle told her everything. She sobbed heartbreakingly at the time. Thinking about it now, she still felt grief-stricken inside!

"As long as you understand." He said, then stood up to leave.

Carla Carr paused for a moment, watching him leave; his tall, straight figure inspiring thoughts. He walked upstairs indifferently, not leaving her any parting words, not even a greeting.

Only then did she realize that she and him had truly reached this point—

It seemed they had reached this irreparable point.

...

The days at the Summer Palace lasted more than half a month.

Not regularly making breakfast for Alexander Kingsley, cutting fruit for him, caring for him, sleeping beside him, purely sleeping, not the other sleep, just the literal meaning of the word.

More than half a month had passed, Alexander Kingsley’s injuries had mostly healed, and even his complexion had improved significantly.

At eight o’clock this morning, at the dining table, Alexander Kingsley put down his bowl and chopsticks, looked across at Carla Carr, and spoke: "I’m fine now. You can leave."

He knew very well that during this period she tended to him, complying with his every need, merely out of her own guilt.
